Vscode when I’m feeling productive, neovim when I’m feeling saucy
Hate pretty much every other ide out there, but do occasionally get forced into Android studio or xcode. Xcode is the worst, msvs a close second.
One day a multi cursor first multi-language extension lightweight ide will replace vscode I’m sure but it’s solid for now.
I’ve made apps in tons of different ways, kotlin with jetpack compose, react native, cordova, old school java activities.
Imo cross platform is the way to go, react native has been the easiest to maintain for me, I have 4 production react native apps that have been fairly successful and easy to maintain. My two biggest complaints are the difficulty of running on desktop, and the pain of upgrading react native versions. Expo sucks but it’s the best we have and does help with upgrading.
Flutter is fine, dart is not my favorite but it’s definitely worth looking into.

Imo your resentment is like a natural disaster, unavoidable and nobody’s fault. Just like a natural disaster you don’t have the privilege of choosing the consequences. Resentment is bad for you, bad for her, and not conducive to a long term relationship.
Breaking up is hard, especially when you’re young and don’t have a solid perspective on life after childhood.
Your military service is the death knell for your relationship regardless of your resentment unfortunately. Without a solid loving long term outlook with good long distance fundamentals your relationship will ultimately atrophy and fail.
I’ve been in long relationships that should have ended sooner, and regretted those relationships far more than the relationships that terminated painfully. Breaking up is hard, but staying together without the right feelings is worse.

I don’t think the judicial system has been very judicious since it’s become so politicized. With so many right leaning justices and straight up corruption in the courts I don’t respect their opinions anymore.
Perhaps it would be different for someone right leaning, but it’s my understanding that average people on the right distrust most government by default. The Republican mind and the libertarian mind are often similar.
All that to say I don’t think this is a valid trigger for introspection, and in fact I don’t think there is a single thing besides brown jesus christ himself coming down and rapturing their opposition that would cause even a second of pause.

A progressive party would be doomed from the start, the dichotomy of us politics is an issue of inertia not party availability. Unless both parties splinter simultaneously how could it possibly be successful? You think the american people are generally progressive? Look at this last election!
Nobody knows the future, but we can definitely speculate. Programming is still a good career if you’re talented, but it may no longer be the golden standard of well paying jobs that it has been for the last few decades.
More important than anything, if you want to program, then do it. Don’t wait for university to tell you how, get your hands dirty and start making something cool, a game, a web app, whatever.
Getting a job is hard for junior devs right this second for largely macroeconomic reasons, that may change in the future or it may not. You can sidestep that issue entirely with a solid portfolio.
Learn to use the latest ai tools, but don’t rely on them to do the work and learning for you, “vibe coding” may or may not be a future career but if it is the salary will likely be significantly lower than software engineering.
A degree does not make a programmer, but programming does.

My biggest gripe with vnc clients is 8 character maximum password lengths for the default protocol. Straight up crazy.
