Absolutely agreed! Arch wiki helps with this as well.
Although Ive been using linux for 2 years now, and i still want an installation manager with sane defaults.

AFAIK intel arc gpus are pretty good for that.
What was disappointing about wallabag? I have an ebook reader, and Koreader has it integrated into it, and its great.
Of course it is.
You can download different models as well. For me, without a GPU, searching for example ‘cat’ takes a few seconds, and it is not the most accurate, but still works OK.
Same!
Did not realize how good it is to have digital albums with the family! And also having a backup is great as well, for a peace of mind.
I havent needed to stup kiosk mode (yet), but whats challenging about it? I always wondered why would people put up with Windows on these kiosks, instead of a simple Linux OS?
There are window managers / compositors, which fulfill kiosk mode, ex. Cage.
This image by itself always makes me sad for Skips…
Amazing show
Whats wrong with fdroid? Glorified apk installer. Ye…es? What else should an app store do?
Buddy, this is a linux post not a windows one
Sadly true, but still better than nothing
It should be fine I think. On Linux you can have multiple Desktop Environments installed (ex KDE Plasma & Gnome as well.)
I tried Hyprland a few months ago like this. I had Plasma installed then installed hyprland as well. During login with SDDM you can select which DE to launch.
Edit: On github it says you should install it alone to make sure. I dont know then, maybe it works? I am still new to Linux as well.
Im using the Xiaomi Mi9t as well. Straight from MIUI to Android 14 custom ROM with Niagara Launcher. Its so awesome. I still love that there isnt any notch or hole on the screen.
Here is a great list: https://github.com/nyas1/Material-You-app-list
Then you could search it up on Droidify or use Obtainium.
You know, RSS exists to literally circumvent this problem, albeit for articles. A lot of sites still have it, people just forgot that this is a thing. Little bit of a chore to setup, but its actually pretty nice. Obviously finding these sites is the hard part, but a good search engine (kagi btw) could make it work.
Also PeerTube exists as well, which reduces the cost of hosting videos.
Absolutely agree with the youtube subscription part. I am not giving them money if i can.
So what do I do? Patreon. I watch ad free, and i give 1 dollar a month instead on patreon. Win-win.
P.S. However, this way only a select few get money from me, but it is what it is.
Wow, are you me?? :D
I almost did the same, just my phone is not a pixel, so i had to resort to some other custom ROM. And I still just use good ol’ firefox with proton VPN most of the time.
P.S. I also blocked our TV from accessing the internet as well. Ex. Codeberg is a GitHub replacement, and on mobile Grayjay/LibreTube works great for youtube.
But gotta admit, its a damn good launcher! If i had to use windows again, I would install it instead of the other two for sure!
Nice! We are looking into it with my boss and one other colleague. Im really hoping it goes through and I can finally use Linux at work!
Its crazy how polarizing the Linux experience can be. Was it a desktop or laptop? For me it was just a few clicks (Manjaro then Endeavour) on the first try and be done with it on my desktop PC. Also with dual booting.
Hopefully next time you will have more luck! “Sadly” I cannot go back to windows now, I got Linux-pilled. Linux just treats my right without any Microsoft ads.
This same argument goes for Linux as well. Linux allows you to turn the computer into anything you want it to be!
