It’s called the ‘inner platform effect’. They are basically replicating parts of the underlying platform (the OS in this case) inside their own application, until the application turns into a platform itself, one crappier than the one below it. You see this happening with web browsers and ‘web apps’.
Then maybe switch to a better OS / Window manager?
BorgDrone@lemmy.oneto No Lawns@slrpnk.net•Real talk though the big baddies here are the HOAEnglish5·1 month agoMuch, much less. The city I live in wants to promote biodiversity and has adapted their mowing schedule for this. Large parts of public greenery are only mowed once or twice per year. Other parts 6 times a year. Some parts are mowed 20 times a year, e.g. fields for kids to play on, or where it would be a safety issue (e.g. high growth blocking view around a corner), but that’s just a small portion.
Also in some parts they only partially mow, to create spaces where there are different heights of greenery. They also sowed a lot of mixed flowers, which looks really nice.

ID verification using a picture taken of the ID is practically worthless. It is trivial to fake.

Gotta love people who don’t want to take a vaccine that was designed by the absolute top experts in the field and extensively tested, but have no problem popping pills some grifter on the interweb sold them.
BorgDrone@lemmy.oneto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Power company oursourced their payments. Every method except autopay now has a feeEnglish1·4 months agoIs this also not a good reason to not set up auto pay in the case of data breaches?
No.
Sure it may not be connected to your lemmy account, but does no other personal info about you link to that data?
That personal data is already in their system whether or not I use autopay. I’m pretty sure my mortgage provider has my name and address on file. So does the energy company, my internet provider, etc.
Also, not doing automatic payments doesn’t even prevent them from having my bank account number. If I manually transfer the money they can see the source account number.
It’s actually quite rare for cats to kill birds, it’s a skill very few cats have. None of our cats has ever brought back a dead bird, while they have gone on an absolute killing spree among the local mouse population.
The birds around our house (mainly jackdaws, which are wicked smart) like to taunt the cats though.
