Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Entertainment@beehaw.org•King of the Hill actor Jonathan Joss is shot dead in Texas during an argument23·21 days agoHis husband posted on social media that the neighbors had openly harassed them with homophobic language and threatened to burn their house down before and the cops did nothing.
Someone put the skull of one of their dogs out in plain view, and when they were crying the neighbor came over and killed him. He said Jonathan protected him and saved his life.
If this isn’t a hate crime (regardless of what fucking Texas cops say) I’ll eat my hat.
This one hit me harder than I was expecting.

Probably not the only reason, but I’m sure it didn’t help. These kids are in for literal and financial pain.

They should study whatever social media algorithm this freak is addicted to if they want to actually learn something about lobotomies in the modern day.

Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Science@mander.xyz•Street smarts: how a hawk learned to use traffic signals to hunt more successfully22·1 month agoBut what was really interesting, and took me much longer to figure out, was that the hawk always attacked when the car queue was long enough to provide cover all the way to the small tree, and that only happened after someone had pressed the pedestrian crossing button. As soon as the sound signal was activated, the raptor would fly from somewhere into the small tree, wait for the cars to line up, and then strike.
That meant that the hawk understood the connection between the sound and the eventual car queue length. The bird also had to have a good mental map of the place, because when the car queue reached its tree, the raptor could no longer see the place where its prey was and had to get there by memory.
It was an immature bird. Cooper’s hawks rarely nest in cities in our area but are common winter visitors. So the bird I was watching was almost certainly a migrant, having moved to the city just a few weeks earlier. And it had already figured out how to use traffic signals and patterns. To me it seemed very impressive.
Emphasis mine. That’s wild!

It’s a lot less baffling if you consider the possibility that they never believed any of the shit they said about Trump being a threat to democracy, or if they did that part doesn’t bother them. It was Theater Time during the election and now it’s Cooperation Time, and actually you’re the extreme one for not just seamlessly switching modes!
If I could hold down a button to clean my shower you bet your ass I would.
The lack of a sparkle and a ding when you finish cleaning something is a major mark against real life cleaning, as well.
