I’m not. But it’s probably the same reason as WhatsApp in Europe. Why be on WhatsApp when you can be on signal (or whatever). The answer is: that’s where the people are. The fediverse is amazing. And I’ve totally switched over and don’t use reddit anymore. But it has but a tiny fraction of the users compared to reddit.

For example. /r/TipOfMyJoystick has multiple posts daily. !TipOfMyJoystick@retrolemmy.com hasn’t had activity in months. It’s the nature of a smaller user base.

Tell that to circuit board designers. It’s horrible every time a 3d model of a circuit board is added. The component height gives no visual advantage, and it’s slow as shit on corporate computers.

Comfort has nothing to do with it. If you don’t show up at your work, you don’t have income anymore. There’s no fallbacks by design. They keep you in line by forcing you to work. And they made sure the cost of living was high enough that most people have to work a 2nd job, so protests can’t even be held after work hours.

It does not tick all boxes, but I think smart launcher might tick most boxes. I’ve used it for almost a decade now. Drawer is organized into categories automatically. Which makes my home screen a single page, and everything is easy to find. The search works great for apss not easily found

No mtx, dedicated servers, easy modding and actually a good product. Yeah, that tracks. These things are almost essential to have a lasting game. It’s the reason games like cs1.6 still go strong. Even for less popular games like jedi knight 2 and jedi academy. They would almost be forgotten if it didn’t check all 4 boxes.

Half the “problems” have been solved by retro hardware enthousiasts. Acting like it’s a big deal you have to connect a mouse and keyboard to the ps/2 ports. Even back in the early 2000s this was solved with USB to ps2 dongles.

If a server has a bot set up on lemmy federate, the server is automatically loading posts for the community. Especially handy for smaller instances where none of the users on there have noticed the post, or have subscribed.

Since lemmy is still relatively small, a lot of people don’t subscribe, and instead use the all feed, and maybe even block communities that don’t interest them.

Hence, in the same vain. They come from mastodon themselves.

Simply said: It’s an open-source version of Reddit, in the same vain that mastodon is an open-source version of Twitter.

I would block hexbear. I’ve done it server-wide. They are mostly very loud trolls pretending to be communists. Some could be actual communists, but I don’t buy anyone actually wanting to be in such a toxic environment and believe what they claim to believe.

Yeah. If the problems start stacking up and making it near unusable, I’ll have to switch to another app. And I hope it doesn’t come to that, because the user experience and customizability is leagues above other apps.
