It’s just a different Wafrn instance, which is why you couldn’t log into it.
As far as I’m aware it’s the first and only other Wafrn instance run by someone besides the creator of Wafrn. Hopefully in time there may be more.
Another traveler of the wireways.

Similar situation to Irelephant, first I’m reading about Loforo. Doing some brief research, it doesn’t look like Loforo’s integrated ActivityPub that much, nor does it seem to be open source so others could run their own instances.
In those respects Wafrn is the clear choice for a federated Tumblr-like, as it’s open source and integrates ActivityPub thoroughly. As a matter of fact, a little more digging and I found where someone has been helping test run another Wafrn instance in the form of “evil” Wafrn.
The sort of bizarre thing about this kind of trash legislation is, if you take a moment to consider it as being in good faith (which it’s not but…), it lays the groundwork for delegitimizing its own supporters.
If the elections were so insecure and widely defrauded as to justify and demand this legislation, then there’s zero reason to believe those seeking to pass the legislation have any legitimacy whatsoever. After all, they may have only gotten their positions by exploiting the elections’ insecurity, and if not exploiting it, benefiting from it nonetheless and should in turn resign instead of further diminishing the integrity of the governments’ institutions.
However, obviously they don’t want people to consider that angle, and this is mainly a means to disenfranchise voters and sow further institutional distrust while encouraging party loyalty, as there is no genuine basis for this legislation.
If you can’t resist then I guess a compromise might be buying used where possible, getting cross-platform titles on other platforms.
Personally a couple of my various regrets have been getting Nintendo stuff new in recent years. My lightly used New 3DS d-pad bugged out, I replaced the d-pad for it and barely used it only for it to partly break again.
I got a Switch, new, before they went ballistic with lawsuits and the screen had a dead pixel out of the box. Probably a matter of time before it develops stick drift. The battery also gives the whole device a limited time to work, unless it can still work via the dock without a battery (or with and without charging capacity), but I’m doubtful of that…
The Switch 2 being a similar design carries on that same battery problem as far as I’m aware.
Was thinking the same and you can.
Minimal fucking around needed too, just pkg install imagemagick then navigate filesystem to images ya want to adjust and magick however desired to reduce the file size.
This is funny and cool! I like the tiled/grid view even more after giving the demo a look. Not sure why but the instance sidebar as shown in the screenshot isn’t displaying in the demo on my end (Firefox), but probably related to being a weekend whip-up.
Still with the spirit of this as you mention in another comment, would love to see more experimental and strange frontends. It’d be fun to see more of the different Lemmy instances/sites with unique looks to distinguish themselves.
Aah, that may explain it! I thought it might be best to check logged out for a better sense of how search worked, so was searching logged out.
Thanks!
Regarding community search, sorry for the lack of clarity. I dropped a clear example when revising, I was referring to searching for a community by the form “videos@\sopuli.xyz”, note the missing ! from the start.
Maybe that’s more of an edge case?
Great steps! Non-invasive methods may be preferable, but restoration of sensation is restoration.
Congrats on getting them to curl with delight!
Alongside what’s mentioned in the original post, there’s the usual methods of political engagement, e.g. calling or writing government officials across all relevant areas. If you catch wind of groups organizing protests, these would also serve as opportunities to connect with local groups to work with.
Besides some sites for meetups/events to try to find these, Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed may also be used to create communities to try to pool together information and direct people to resources (such as this community itself and threads like this). Besides this community, there’s also the following:
[…] there was just a little more non-political content to help dilute it due to the larger user-base.
There was/is a lot more and that’s one of the various reasons the different Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed sites haven’t swayed people over yet. There’s far more people around here replying to posts like this and news posts, as well as creating news/politics/“dry” posts or find-anywhere-fare like memes/shitposts than much else.
It’s why recently I’ve tried posting more than media news links to a few of the different entertainment communities. Around here you really have to post/comment on what you want to see more than on the big corporate sites.
Appreciate this post OP, as I’ve wondered similar at times when not wanting to fuss with another machine for self-hosting (as often it’s not the case that I could run the server software on my main system).
It’s fun and sort of bittersweet finding stuff like this online with such little visitation.
Thanks for sharing!
Aah I follow ya. As evident in my comment, I tend to pair absurdism with its related philosophy existentialism for something of a grounding effect, personally.
I disagree. Stoicism at its worst may lead to resignation. Absurdism encourages defying the meaninglessness of existence in large part by recognizing meaning is made.
In the face of a cold, uncaring existence, absurdism or existentialism are two great philosophies to employ to reimagine how we want to be in the world and how we want the world to be compared to stoicism, which would reach its limits with and within reason. Absurdism recognizes reason’s limits and realizes one needs more than reason alone to persist.
Walnut a.k.a. Nutcracker
But isopropyl alcohol and enough elbow grease will get it off, if it’s just a coating on plastic.
Do beware, however, that you may want to dilute the alcohol to some degree, or simply use a lower concentration form of it. Too strong and it may eat at the underlying plastic just as much as the coating and ruin it.
are you getting a cut from kagi for writing that instead of search? gimme the deets on that deal if so! 😛
Going off the headline alone makes me think of when the idea of putting cosmetic patches on things felt cool. Personally I still think it’s cool, maybe others do too, I dunno.
Anyway, repairing things is cool whether it’s electronic or cloth!
