Highlight an actual instance of power-tripping then we’ll talk. I’ve seen far too many people quick to whine and complain when they were banned for straight up transphobia, thinly veiled transphobia, or apologia.

Blahaj is not a safe space for anyone, at least not more than anywhere else.

The people who have been getting banned by @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone are instance banned for transphobia or apologia. This is something you shouldn’t leave out or ignore. When a person is banned from an instance they are automatically banned from any communities they have participated in there.

She’s not power-tripping by banning them from the instance, most people banned from blahaj.zone deserve it, and aren’t safe around queer people. Something that is kind of a requirement to participate in communities that are meant to be queer safe spaces.

It does if you’re a member of that instance. The instance the person is banned from will bounce all federation requests from the banned person.

She did this to me too because I was questioning their motives for moving and avoiding lemmy.blahaj.zone “censorship”, though she only did a temp ban. I guess I got lucky, but good to know that the others there are more level headed. So I would definitely say this seems like power-tripping, PTB? That’s how you say it right (I’m new to this community).

Just for clarification I’m Agender, I’ve said it before, I only say I’m a femboy and not a femby because femby is way too often perceived as transfem which I am not. I’m also not a cis person I’m Isogender. It literally says it in my profile. Before anyone tries to argue that they can’t be a bigot because they’re NonBinary, just keep in mind that transmedicalists are openly and directly transphobic despite being transgender themselves. Just because this person is NonBinary that doesn’t make them not a hate-filled bigot, they still indeed are one, and in a way it’s actually worse because they’ll just say people are being transphobic or enbyphobic towards them when people try to call them out, which ends up being harmful because they’re calling things that aren’t transphobic transphobic. That reflects negatively on trans people and takes away from the ability to call out actual transphobia.

On Lemmy itself it hasn’t been implemented, though there is an issue related to it on their github. There are clients that do it but it’s client-side only at the moment.

That’s one big problem with political discussions, everyone having them thinks their own views are the correct ones. Then there’s the problem of politics in international communities, did you know that what’s right and left can be entirely different in different countries and different cultures?

It’s why I avoid political discourse and I try not to refer to myself or others as right or left.

It’s not a load problem though, it’s because some loser is DDoSing the server. Doesn’t hurt to move to other instances where it isn’t happening but the real solution would be to find who’s doing this so they can be brought to justice (or silenced from the internet forever, whichever is easier).

Please tell others to stop misrepresenting this issue, it is an attack, not a user overload problem and nobody who’s misrepresenting it that way is doing anyone any favors except the attackers by presenting it as such. Instead it should be presented as what it is.
