Hi, what is this meme format called?
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Element in water heater died; less than two months old.English6·10 months agoDepending on the state, some agencies will test drinking water samples for a small fee that is much less than $200. In Michigan, the department of health did it for me. This is likely hard water. And if it’s from a well, it should be tested every so often anyways.

Try it out. It is a great utility.
I went from GUI to terminal and I’ll never go back. Especially with interactive add,
git add -i
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@programming.dev•How happy are you with your current distro?2·1 year agoDebian is more stable than Windows or Mac. It’s 30 years old for a reason.
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto JavaScript@programming.dev•Stop nesting ternaries in JavaScript73·2 years agoI’ve been a software developer for 7 years and I’ve grown to hate terneries entirely. They only hinder readability. Readability is the biggest factor in maintainability. Code that is hard to maintain makes bugs.
I always mark PRs with nested terneries as “needs work”.
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•which distro and why do you prefer it over others?1·2 years agoAnd honestly, nano as the default makes sense, it’s lightweight and gets the job done. I still have that as my default.
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•which distro and why do you prefer it over others?1·2 years agoHonestly, most of the defaults are good enough for me. I just run vi and it does the job well enough. If I need to configure a good dev environment, I’ll just install stuff with apt-get install and mangle stuff onto my PATH.

FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•which distro and why do you prefer it over others?30·2 years agoDebian, because I can just have a computer without needing to fiddle with a million things. I work in tech and don’t want to mess with any more code or configurations if I’m on my own computer. It’s worked for me for 5 years and has worked for others for 30 years.
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•What things really helped you toget better at programming?5·2 years agoTest driven development has really helped me understand bugs and functional changes well. Doing a red green change has done wonders for me over the years.
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•I just installed debian and i have many problems3·2 years agoWhat’s with everyone recommending a different distro instead of trying to help the user in the thread?
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Spiral Linux, finally a Debian live done as it should be21·2 years agoColor me confused, but what’s wrong with stock Debian?
FourThirteen@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.ml•Workers at Amazon UK warehouse to walk out on Black Friday7·2 years agoAside from Montana, the remaining 49 are “at will” employment states. You can be fired for any reason at any time, aside from if your employment is terminated for being part of a protected class, regardless of if you are a contractor or not. There are some jobs that have more protections, like union jobs (yay unions). There are also some employment agreements that are not at will if I believe too.
You can also leave your job at any time for any reason in an at will state.
Don’t forget about good ol
