Fireflies is a much cooler name though.

Thanks. That’s helpful. And because I had to know:
Among unfathomable “Diseases and Casualties,” Planet (or plannet) was “likely a shorthand for “planet-struck [because] Many medical practitioners believed the planets influenced health and sanity.” The label applied to any sudden illness or death, such as a heart attack or aneurysm, according to “15 Historic Diseases that Competed with Bubonic Plague.”

Two in the pink, one in the stink.
As I understood it back in the old times…. The Flat Earth Society was a groups of logical rationalist who got together and for shits and giggles (as well as practicing rational debate) would pick an indefensible argument (eg. the earth is flat) and attempt to use rational arguments to support that indefensible claim.
Basically a rowdy drunk philosophers get together.
Edit: there is no proof of this, just something I read online in the early days of the internet.
From my understand (degree form YouTube), our understanding of what is needed for life is liquid water and free energy.
Which means earth like is most likely, but there are other alternatives. For example, the moon of Jupiter (Titan iirc) is ice covered but has liquid water beneath the surface, and the gravity of Jupiter should provide the free energy so that’s the Vegas favourite for finding extraterrestrial life within our solar system.
It’s interesting to me that Africa is 2. I’d assume that when these were implemented Africa would be a cultural afterthought and Europe would’ve gotten number 2.
Curious what the thought process was there.

Thankfully I can look down on everyone as I’m firmly at the top of that curve.

That’s what the judge does.

I’m hoping for a fun romp where William takes Brad along on a dark op. With Tendi. Cause her dark op sequence was just terrific. I love seeing that Orion pirate it up.

And Introducing [SPOILER]!English4·2 years agoThanks. I honestly couldn’t recall them in any official canon. But I am playing STO at the moment and they’re in that as allies of the Klingons so I assumed there was more to their story that I just wasn’t remembering.
I thought the same thing. But it does look like there’s a stone path leading to it. Still, perhaps a post with a sign would be a practical solution.

And Introducing [SPOILER]!English5·2 years agoWhile I agree that Trek is all about finding common ground, I just hope they don’t humanize the Gorn too much. While I’m no Trekologist I don’t think the Gorn become “friendly” until much later in the time line (like late TNG era). Someone nerdier than me please correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m a little alone on this from what I can see from various forums, but I like the hideous and alien format of this iteration of the Gorn. I hope they continue to at least Cold War this relationship for another season or five.

You either have to believe that parents and children bare no responsibility for their intrusions on strangers lives or you have to believe that all babies should be exiled from public spaces until they are old enough to behave.
Choose.
Edit: /s cause this thread is ridiculous enough to need it.

It does lean a little towards the silly more than I’d generally like, but even the silly is good.
And the cross over episode was top notch.

I, and many others, think this is great Trek. I’m just curious if you can articulate what you find un-Trek about this show.
FTR: All other Trek we’ve had so far has been essentially from the perspective of the elite of the Trek universe. Now we’re just seeing the universe from the “worker class”. It’s just a different perspective, but still holds to the ideals of Roddenberry Trek I feel.
There’s no mixed messages here. That guy just hates everyone.
GCanuck@lemmy.worldto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Manny Coto, The Showrunner Who Tried To Save 'Star Trek: Enterprise,' DiesEnglish4·2 years agoI also suggest Strange New Worlds. It’s the best Trek since TNG (imo). There are certainly some silly parts and some episodes do lean a little more towards comedy then I’d like in my Trek, but even still. It’s good Trek.
I believe I even heard her call Ashoka “master”. That piqued my interest quite a bit.
Fun little game. Good job.
Unfortunately my question got 6 yes and 6 no. So now I don’t know.
Oh wait, it updates in real time. That’s neat. Now it’s 8 yes and 4 no.
Edit: sigh. Didn’t see the AI disclaimer. That’s a bummer.
