Honestly, my experience is entirely anecdotal, and I completely admit that. I have not read this article yet, so I don’t even know what the conclusion is (but I can make an assumption).
Disclaimer being what it is, literally all of the full-on racist people I know or have known are also MAGA conservatives. And conversely, all the MAGA people I know or have known are way more racist than average. I say that from the perspective that, at least in the USA, most people have racial biases to a certain extent.
I’ve been told things like “You don’t have the right skin color to take the bus into the city”, meaning because I’m Caucasian with “white” skin, I would somehow be an outlier among the rest of the folks taking the bus. Many, many times I’ve heard statements like “we can’t even say [the N-word] anymore even though that’s what they call themselves all the time” and let me tell you the people saying that don’t say “N-word” they say the real deal that rhymes with chigger. They’ll claim illegal “Mexicans” took their jobs, without a moment’s thought about who hired those “Mexicans” or what nationality those “Mexicans” are. There’s really no skin color other than white-white that doesn’t receive some hate.
Anyway, this is just old man ranting at this point, and it may even be too long to be readable, so let me summarize it with FUCK RACISTS & FUCK MAGA.

Disagree if you want, but I’ve felt this way and have been saying some variation of this (but perhaps not as eloquently) pretty much since November of 2024.
Granted, in the immediate wake of the election, even I didn’t think things would be this way, at least not so soon. As soon as he took office, anybody with half a brain cell could see, first-hand sans conjecture, just how much of a disaster we were in for. I was like, at this stage, we’re going to have to root for the hamberders to do their thing and in the mean time we’re going to have to turn the other cheek and accept those Trump voters who come to regret their vote. If there are enough of them, and they genuinely see an apology as a path out of the cult, there’s a better chance of turning things around.
That’s basically my Pandora experience. They’ll have ads where if you click to watch a video, you’ll get X amount of time, usually an hour, ad free. There’s about a 50% chance the ad will cause the app to crash, but only AFTER the ad finishes playing. And once I start the app up again, it doesn’t remember the offer or that I watched the ad. Same thing if I close the app, accidentally or otherwise. If I start it back up, that ad free hour is gone.
He’s retired, it’s the main thing he’s got going for him. I cannot be responsible for taking it away from him. But if he so much as plants a single row of okra, IT IS ON.
Pretty much nothing that I’m aware of, other than my neighbor’s greenhouse grown tomatoes.
Sorry for being very busy and also kind of poor and also for living about 45 minutes away from the closest movie theater but even further away from one that doesn’t completely suck. Also sorry for being incredibly disappointed the past several times I tried to watch something in the theater which left a bad impression that made me less apt to repeat the experience regardless of whether it’s an original movie or not. Similarly, I’m very sorry that most of the movies I had even thought about going to the theater to see turned out to be movies that after seeing them in the comfort of my own home, I would have been kinda upset at myself and the universe in general if I had paid movie theater prices to see them.
The easiest way I can explain it is like this: All the sci-fi geeks in the world are familiar with parallel timelines, right? The idea that there’s another RymrgandsDaughter out there living in a world where apes with goatees are the “people” but otherwise pretty much everything else is very similar to how things are for us here and now. But like in perpendicular time, nearly everything is completely different than this current timeline, and yet somehow there’s a point within where I, Gooberear, took the time out of my morning to completely make up this explanation from thin air and which has no basis in actual fact or reality. The end.
You get a contempt. You get a contempt. And you get a contempt. Everybody gets a contempt.
What’s this “we” you’re talking about? I would rather not even have to think about his privates, let alone involve myself with the inspection.
How can anybody make jokes about this knowing what’s at steak?
To be honest, I don’t get a lot of time to game as an adult. For the past several years, my gaming is mostly restricted to fall/winter, like November through early March and even then, it’s primarily around the holidays when I have extra time off work. Even during my “gaming season”, I’m usually only able to get in a 45 minute session a few times a week. The rest of the year, I’m lucky to have the down time more than a couple times a month.
So, the big thing is: I have to really consider my time limitations and that restricts the types of games I play. No point in trying to play games with super complicated control schemes, complex story lines, or which require a lot of time dedication to “get gud” because I’m going to forget how to play, what I need to do to advance, and I’m just going to suck compared to kids who play 18 hours a day 7 days a week.
The Steam Deck actually did help me do a bit more gaming. Like you, I sit in front of a computer all day for work, so being able to game elsewhere and in a variety of locations is nice. Plus, I can fire it up when traveling.
I also stick to games that I feel like there’s a good chance I can “beat” over the course of my gaming season or games with simple mechanics and limited stories. Like this past winter I played Doom. The year before it was Cult of the Lamb. The year before that it was Hades. Short enough games (at least the main story line) and simple enough controls. Then there are games like Vampire Survivors that offer short, simple, self-contained and satisfying mini gaming sessions if and when I have a random bit of down time and feel like playing something.
I don’t think that photo is from 1886, not with those vehicles in the background. So I assumed it was a joke comment or AI, but all the subjects had normal finger counts, so I assumed joke.
Is that a joke I’m too dumb to get?
I’ll have to read this some other time when I’m feeling a little smarter and can understand the words. But I do love some home made fruit fly traps! When there’s a teenager in the house and it’s warm outside, they are a miracle.
If (isConservative(fuckwad) === true) then “totally okay” else “not okay at all, impeach, repeal, reject”;
My father’s side of the family is super, duper, ultra hardcore “conservative” Trump-loving “Christian”.
They love, love, love to bring up politics at every conceivable opportunity. It’s one of those situations where I have loathed going for visits for decades and sometimes even making the obligate check-in calls plays heck on my “nerves”.
But in the past few years when the conversation turns political, I’ve started hearing big shifts in tone when it comes to opinions on the ultra wealthy in the USA. The last time I was at a family gathering around the holidays, they were berating the Luigi situation and talking about how disgusting it was that anybody would do that, let alone condone it.
That conversation literally did a 180 once I pointed out how it was interesting that the school shooting that happened that same day (or maybe it was a day or two before/after) had received a fraction of the coverage. And it was interesting how murders of people who aren’t rich don’t get that kind of coverage. Basically, when people like you and me get killed for whatever reason, you don’t hear about it. But a rich person is shot and suddenly it’s national news and top billed news for weeks. Wonder why that is?
And those conservative “I hate liberals and liberals should be shot” relatives of mine were in complete agreement.
So, whether you think it sucks or not, you need to know that if you actually want change and actually want things to improve, you’re going to have to forgive and you’re going to have to find common ground with people that you otherwise disagree with on a fundamental level. Fuck you if you say otherwise, you are wrong. And I don’t say that lightly.
Instead of: “They’re a disgusting troglodyte” Say: They are clearly ingenious enough to recognize the utility of having a stable living environment to retreat to for protection that’s superior to any structure they could possibly build using the technology and techniques available to them at the time.
Because it’s easy to manipulate the general public with these planned out and scheduled spectacles specifically developed to provide cover for all the truly terrible stuff that’s being done just slightly behind the curtains while also giving both sides convenient cover from the other’s failures.
