The weird thing is, I was off reddit for years already. It’s only because tech news sites reported on the api changes (and boosted the fediverse) that I made the switch. I was doing fine! I didn’t need a new reddit!
...
Nah, actually I did because 4chan was my replacement for the interim (-_-メ)
Where is she keeping her Yu-Gi-Oh cards?
Hoimo@ani.socialto ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•I mean... think I don't have hundreds open at a time with all my memes?English2·17 days agoYeah, “restore session” will restore whatever you had open the last time you quit Firefox. Closing windows one by one will only quit at the last window, so that’s what it restores. If you want to close Firefox and have it restore multiple windows, you have to use “Quit”.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•To join Facebook these days, one must record a video selfieEnglish12·23 days agoThe software exists, it’s called Flohmarkt.
The strongest urinators are cicadas, but there’s other animals that score higher on the Jet Shape? I guess ~100 Jet Shape must be peak then and everything higher than that is actually a weaker form of urination.
Edit: the labeled dot is only one of many cicadas and some of them score as low as 1.
It’s actually about as Small as a cow is Large, according to this graph.
Yeah, I had some webpages archived and tried to use javascript to clean them up, but I ended up parsing it as xml through Powershell instead. I’ve done something with Python and BeautifulSoup too, a long time ago. Both much easier than JS, but somehow JS is designed to work with web pages? Make it make sense.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Relationship Advice@lemmy.world•Can people like this still be kind? Does my disability actually make me a bad person who deserves this?English2·1 month agoOkay, from this (and your deleted post), I think I can give you some advice. She’s not normal. Anyone who tells you she’s a nice person is either not normal or doesn’t know her. Don’t accept anyone treating you like that.
You didn’t mention any ages. It could still be that she’s a fairly normal 14 year old, I guess? Girls at that age tend to go a bit insane. (Boys take a few more years.) If that’s the case, I’d say that she honestly likes you and has no idea how to express it. You still shouldn’t accept her treating you like that, but it could be a salvagable situation. If she’s an adult though, tell any common friends what she’s truly like and never speak to her again.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Relationship Advice@lemmy.world•Can people like this still be kind? Does my disability actually make me a bad person who deserves this?English4·1 month agoWe’re going to need much more detail to accurately assess her behavior. At the risk of blaming the victim, but we can’t even establish that you’re the victim yet. There’s some situations where a punch would be totally justified and you haven’t confirmed or denied anything.
First things first, were you invited to her house (or had reason to think she’d welcome you)?
Hoimo@ani.socialto Linux@programming.dev•Open source project curl is sick of users submitting “AI slop” vulnerabilities2·1 month agoI find it really easy to tell the difference between a human being polite, neat and well-spoken, and an AI being the same (but soulless). I don’t know if I could put it into words though, there’s just something about AI that lacks subjectivity? A human would phrase something in a certain way and stick with it, because that’s the way they experience it, while the AI takes a phrasing at random, only caring about gaining lexical and grammatical points.
I also think humans overestimate their ability to write clearly and correctly. There’s always some noise in there, even if they’re going full corpo-speak. Unless it’s written-by-committee meaningless corpo, but then I don’t even read it beyond the first sentence. It’s very obvious when someone has tried to strip all meaning from a sentence and the result is not far from AI.
I mean for them, because this is what they have to live with
Keep in mind that Frozen came out in 2013, 12 years ago. The children who were in the prime target demographic back then (4-10 years old), are teens/adults now (16-22). Some of those kids will have imprinted on Elsa a little harder than anyone intended. So when they start developing their sexuality, they somehow have a preference for blonde braids and pointy noses. There’s really nothing wrong with that. Just be happy it wasn’t Olaf.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•*Permanently Deleted*English53·2 months agoThus, the Court easily concludes that the public has a strong interest in knowing the identity of the corporate entity that operates this website and is appearing in federal court
I come there all the time and I have absolutely no interest in knowing who operates it tbh. That information can basically only be used to do harm to nhentai.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•*Permanently Deleted*English25·2 months agoCalifornia-based rightsholder PCR Distributing, which operates under brands including J18 and JAST USA, initiated action against nHentai last summer, describing the site as a significant threat to its business.
I don’t know them, but JAST sells visual novels and other software (so no hentai) and J18 is a Halland-class destroyer of the Swedish Navy, so maybe they’re being threatened by the amount of KanColle doujins showing the superior physical assets of Japanese warships.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Programming@programming.dev•YAML, SQL, or something else? Looking for recommendations for making a database of stories.1·3 months agoIt’s definitely possible to store the stories in columns, but there’s also very little reason to do it. I think filepath in SQL and the stories in separate files in whatever format makes the most sense (html, txt, epub). If you ever want to search the stories for keywords, write a python script to build indexes in SQL, performs much better than doing LIKE on a maxed out varchar column.
I was thinking maybe Elastisearch, but I don’t know how much work that is to set up. For a hobby project, writing your own indexer isn’t too hard and might be more fun and easier to maintain than an industry-grade solution.
Hoimo@ani.socialto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Git, invented in 2005. Programmers on 2004:3·3 months agoIf your remote is completely empty and has no commits, you can just push normally. If it has an auto-generated “initial commit” (pretty sure Github does something like that), you could force push, or merge your local branch into the remote branch and push normally. I think cloning the repo and copying the contents of your local repo into it is the worst option: you’ll lose all local commits.

She’s now at the point where she’s defending her defending of them, so clearly she’s getting pushback. I really don’t mind it though. Most people are normal people with no desire to cause harm. Most people are misinformed about politics. So yes, a bunch of R voters don’t support current events, once you explain to them what’s actually happening. They’ll still vote R next time, of course, because they don’t care enough to inform themselves.
I don’t understand why you’d ever need to know this. What is a phylum anyway? Which animals share a phylum? Are bonobos and chimpanzees in a phylum, a family, a class? And what does that tell us about their relation that we couldn’t already tell from their characteristics?
