  • Its just an idea I had. To virtualize my general computing environment for day to day that does not need a lot of resources generally. So the idea is it would be great to run it on my laptop but like move it to a cloud provider when traveling and travel with a laptop that has nothing personal and then interacting remotely. So a combo of easy change of hardware combined with travel without personal info.

  • I don’t know but I doubt we are increasing capacity. At one point the arsenals were so high the whole planet could be devastated mulitple times between the various countries. The article talks about extension of the last model and this is just finished as the modernized version. So I think its likely just going to replace as they decommission. They just want to keep up the various deterents. Sub missiles, ground missiles, and air bombs. The air and sub is mainly so the other side relizes even if they wiped out the land retaliation was possible. Not sure if they still do it but they used to have at least one nuclear armed aircraft in the air and sub at sea with enough fuel to get anywhere and I believe several but of course you have ones leaving and coming back so there is overlap.

  • wine should handle most things not in a browser. in a browser you can switch the user agent or run edge/chrome if needed. ultimately its going to vary by school, class, and instructor if one requires something that won’t run in wine. In my experience these almost do not exist because mac is very popular in academia. I mean if you take a photoshop or ms office course or such you may be expecting a bit much.
