Aye, true that, I don’t think I said anything contradictory to what you replied with.

Also, FYI, when scientists say “blue light” they don’t mean literally the colour blue, they mean short wavelength light typically emitted by LEDs.
As far as the hue goes, the results in animal testing have been inconsistent, there’s a paper from 2022 that says it has no influence, and this one from 2020 that actually found the opposite to be the case https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(19)31368-5
In my personal experience I do the exact opposite of all conventional advice as admittedly a diagnosed ADHDer.
I cannot sleep without a good scroll and never have, before phones I had books and before I could read as a child I had music and my mom to read to me.
As an adult if I keep listening to something or reading something intently while comfy I will eventually and fairly quickly fall asleep.
I also sleep much better when I sleep immediately after or while scrolling/reading/doing anything than if I try to sleep “normally”.
The number one way for me personally not to fall asleep is to “try” to sleep. Any sort of “ritual” around sleeping or attempt to deprive myself of stimulation and my mind will go pretty crazy with infinite thoughts and infinite random bullshit and I will fling out of bed in an hour full of energy and start projects, after working on something for 10-20 min I’ll feel sleepy again and could even fall asleep while doing them easily, much more so than in plain dark.
It also helps me to not have any sort of ritual and just sleep whenever I feel sleepy if the circumstances allow. I have no idea why or how neurotypicals have sleep schedules and I’ve given up on understanding it. For me, as long as I get 8 hours or so it doesn’t actually matter at all when I get them, i will feel as fresh and awake waking up at 3AM as I would at 10PM or 7AM as long as I get my hours.
So I pretty much get 8 hours, and sometimes more every day and I feel nice and fresh when I wake up usually with sad exceptions during particularly rough work weeks where I end up staying up way late.
All’s I’m saying is YMMV, I’ve never had any issues with sleep nor do I feel particularly tired, I don’t drink coffee nor alcohol, but if I ever explain this to a doctor they go nuts and assume I have insomnia, they try to offer “treatment” when I literally don’t have any problems with this at all.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are the best reasons people have given you for not wanting to try Linux?
4·16 days agoPremiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, FL Studio. They either don’t work or work terribly on Linux. That one DAW on Linux from Ableton devs that’s decent still has awful UX compared to FL and VST compatibility seemed spotty. I do use Linux daily (Debian flavor) though just not on my main PC but on my laptop, and also on the work laptop for work.

I don’t even agree with your premise - Sarcasm is conveyed and deciphered primarily via context clues and tone and expectations set by the context juxtaposed with both the tone and content of the message.
The tone of voice is the spoken equivalent of the sitcom laugh track and is really only there to absolutely make sure everyone is on the same page.
I have absolutely zero trouble reading The Onion’s or Hard Drive Mag’s satire even without knowing that’s where it came from and understanding it as not being literal. I also have never seen sarcasm indicated with the /s tag outside of Reddit.
My coworkers frequently write sarcastically in casual chat at work and not once has anyone suffixed it with some tag, and I literally do not even know what they sound like at all.
Even on Reddit itself, that practice was only ever adopted as a way to keep out brigading/raids by bad-faith (often political) trolls who hide behind the veil of sarcasm. Same as the much more recent phenomenon of /uj and /rj tags being adopted on many circlejerk/parody subs
Over time the meaning probably got lost and ossified into “no one can understand sarcasm” or “no one can read”. I suggest you read more.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are we still living in the information age, or is the technology that makes this possible being used in such a way that it has the opposite effect?
6·23 days agoInformation is still out there, people don’t like the convenience though because then they’d have to experience negative emotions like fear of mortality, meaninglessness and the feeling of being wrong and being not all as good as you thought you were.
It’s not so much that people are addicted to tech or smartphones or all that, they’re addicted to a sense of security and comfort, and they loathe and fear feeling uncomfortable which is normally part of any human experience that’s actually going someplace.

Linux@lemmy.ml•swww renamed to awww, due to the author's guilt from obliviously naming it "final solution"
1·1 month agoYeah I tried it, out of the gate my favourite WM - i3 isn’t supported.
I tried some of the other WMs, and they all kinda sucked imo.
I tried Gnome but it didn’t work for me when I tried using guake.
I also had issues with Spectacle on Plasma (captured area is just plain white).
In both - OBS didn’t work properly either (black screen with some capture methods, massive lag with others) and games were a bit laggy (stutters/frame time spikes).
Last one could be that Wayland doesn’t play nice with the proprietary Nvidia driver or that unlike with Xorg, Proton/SteamPlay dont support launching a gamescope nested session from a Wayland session (or didn’t back when I tried it) which usually ensures silky smooth performance.
So yeah, this was a while back but.

Linux@lemmy.ml•swww renamed to awww, due to the author's guilt from obliviously naming it "final solution"
6·1 month agoStuff like swaybg, despite being very well built, only support setting a single wallpaper on startup. This means, if you want to change the wallpaper during runtime, you must pkill the daemon
So this…this is the power of Wayland

Did this with Reshade playing that Radiohead Amnesia Exhibition thing and Marvel’s Insomniac’s PS4 Spider-Man on PC. It was great!
