I can’t tell you what to do, but maybe my experience will help you. My wife and I got two cats 9 years ago, a third two years ago and last year, unfortunately, one of our cats died, so after a while we filled up to three again because there was stress between the other two. I would say that what we see as “aggressive” is actually more defensive behavior, every time we brought in new cats there was a lot of hissing and growling. We always kept new cats in a separate room for 7 days, with a close-meshed door net attached to the door frame so that the cats could sniff each other but not touch. This has always worked really well so far and in the end they are always inseparable. I would try it, friends of mine had different experiences and had to give up a cat. But that’s not the end of the world either, in the end the animals should feel comfortable and if it doesn’t work out, you can find a better home for the new cat. Yes it would be stress for the new cat if it doesn’t work out, but in the other hand there is the possibility that it works out and it is less stressful for the animal than when it stays in the shelter.

Additionally in between we found a baby stray cat and brought her up (took about 3 weeks of nursing) and our cats were much more open than with new adult cats. Maybe this baby bonus could work with your cat as well if you want to invest the time, it was a great experience. Especially because the cat would have died if we left it where we found it.

I never installed Linux myself, only used it for a bit, so what do you have to do to not be a complete noob? This is only a half serious question, but what do you think you have to do, to be a proficient Linux user? Why not just let call sounds on and the other off? I have the call sound on so I can search for my phone and hear when someone calls me. All other sounds, like notification sounds are off. Nowadays only my parents are calling me, every other person just texts me, so this works for me, but depends on your circumstances.

I have ADHD and finishing my PhD right now. My doctoral supervisor practically gave me free rein and I was able to let my creativity run free. The teaching was exhausting, the lectures were exhausting and the publishing was exhausting. I’m glad it’s over, all those boring tasks are really getting on my nerves and I’m looking forward to working in the industry soon. So if you really consider this, don’t rush this decision.

I also have a steam deck, don’t like to play without buttons, so phone is a no go and the steam deck screen is too big for such pixelated games, so I got myself a RG35XX for 50€ from AliExpress and am super happy with it. It plays anything up to the PS1.

I can’t give you an answer to the legality question, but some additional information I heard in a podcast: The acquisitions came at a time when money was cheap and people were playing a lot more video games because of the pandemic. Unfortunately, they miscalculated because money is now much more expensive again and the gaming industry has not been able to retain these players across the board. Only 4 games that have come out since then have brought in much more than the production costs, which then had to finance the remaining ~15 (all from my memory, but it should be in the order of magnitude). That didn’t work out and so now cuts have to be made to avoid burning even more money.

My fitness gym (Germany) has subscriptions, but there is also one that can be canceled monthly, which is offered at a discount, especially at the beginning of the year, because of the new year resolutions, so people who regret it can cancel quickly. It is still available later in the year, but is then about 20% more expensive than if you enter into a contract for 12 months, which is still billed monthly and not all at once at the beginning. There is also a student discount that saves you around €200 a year. You can cancel online or on site, I’ve already done it once and it went without a hitch. So it seems to be a bit more convenient here than with OP. Although I would love a prepaid option as you describe.
