I’d been using linux for work for a couple years and it was going fine. I had a pretty crappy laptop at home with limited storage and I was constantly wrestling with Windows storing update stuff, installing adware during updates, etc.
I’d heard of proton and about how well it was going with it, so I had an idea linux gaming was possible.
Eventually something happened during a windows update that required I reinstall the OS and I just pulled out the flash drive I used to install linux on my work machine and tried it out. Eventually I did have to dual boot (on a bigger drive) for some games, but nowadays I’m all linux everywhere.

Somehow I don’t think that’s “their website”
The people don’t really do that. A move needs to start from the mods, whether it’s because they want to move or because they did something to piss everybody off.
Several people have already raised concerns with the fact that they got banned from several unrelated .ml communities by the same mod for breaking the rules in one community. There are several topics with broad appeal that have their largest community on .ml. Switching instances is basically the same as making another account because you’re still subject to the .ml moderation.
I have an Nvidia GPU and aside from the occasional lemon of a driver, I’ve had no issues (to be sure, I don’t use Wayland). I play games through Proton just fine. MHW, Elden Ring, Hunt Showdown, BG3, etc. Unfortunately the games he picked are borked or not listed on protondb. Not sure about Minecraft though, I used to play that just fine.
But imagine if the original owner bought Skyrim, and then you have to buy it again if you want to play it. Two Skyrim moneys!
Same as any other illegality. It’s legal until you get caught. The account will work fine until for one reason or another it becomes obvious you’re not the original owner of the account, and then it’s banned. Billing changes, location changes, ip changes, confession, etc.
I think you’re leaving money on the table
For some people that is ok
intentionally limiting who can experience the art you’re trying to share with the world
Almost every musician, painter, or sculptor ever has done that. It is ok.
You don’t HAVE to include more than the basic colorblind option
I think most devs could include stuff like colorblind options or rebindable control schemes and such, and I definitely think they should
better products for it
Difficulty is not the same as colorblind mode. Colorblind mode is the same as creating closed captions for movies, difficulty is the same as changing the movie to fit another audience. Difficulty is part of the game.
it COULD be a better game if they did
It would be a different game, that they are not trying to make.
Yet another thing that’s impossible to discuss without being strawmanned by both sides. I’m not a hardcore gamer and for the most part play on medium or just slightly above medium difficulty in most video games.
I don’t think a dev should have to accommodate customers that they don’t want to accommodate, and this goes beyond difficulty. Souls games don’t need a difficulty choice in the same way that Firewatch doesn’t. Gacha games don’t need to improve the f2p experience because those are games for whales.
It’s like asking for sex drugs and rock&roll in disney movies and pg 13 horror movies.
I’m not defending capitalism in that comment. Communist is also more than an economic model.
Grandma has are the best, surely.
It’ll be different this time guys, no really, just one more time guys, we’ll get it right, it wasn’t even a good try, let us go again, this time for real, no way it’ll be anything other than a utopia guys, the people will have the power, guys.
Power word: scrunch
I’ll see if I can enable it in Discover and run updates through that. Thanks for the tip.
Does that have auto updates? It’s kind of annoying to download debs every week.
I’m not super well versed, I’m a Linux casual.
Amen lmao. Seems they hit the nail on the head.
