Oh, I didn’t realise the switch supported monitors on generic docks at all. Yeah, I was still on handheld then.

I don’t think it’s a universal thing? I’ve got a USB-c dock and it handled Ethernet and power for my 2 totally fine, and I think it reported the keyboard although I didn’t test it.
Thank goodness, I’m a big fan of my classic Game Boy themed SN30 and was a bit annoyed to find it didn’t work at launch with the 2.
I think I’ll definitely be picking up an Ultimate 2 in a few months to replace my aging Switch Pro controller.
“Fans reject Such 2 game-key cards”, do they? Impressive that they’ve managed to do that before any have even been sold. I’m always rejecting stuff I can’t have yet.
I don’t believe we’ve had confirmation yet. They have said the Pro sticks will be smoother and less squeaky but didn’t name check Hall Effect.
Is Nintendo the only console producer whose consoles get used for mega LAN events? I was at a regional Pokemon event the other day where there were 500+ people playing Switch within a few tens of metres of each other. Aside from the fact that wireless gear could enable cheating, the wireless interference would be a real issue.
Can anyone name the game boy tune they’re using for the ad music? Sounds familiar.
KZ ES4 were recommended by DankPods as great cheap wired headphones, in the UK they’re £20 and a replacement cable is £10. They’re 3.5mm so you’d also need a USB-C dongle. Not exactly BIFL but I liked them, although I daily drive AirPods now because the convenience factor is just so much higher.
Current FOSS supported smartphones are mostly not really compatible with BIFL
Firstly, Rooting/ flashing non-manufacturer firmware voids your warranty. A phone without manufacturer support is going to struggle to be BIFL. If you’re able to flash the original ROM back on that protects you some, but if a failure leaves you unable to flash firmware then you’re SOL.
Also, the FOSS OS might be solid but many ports to specific phones are enabled by only a couple of developers doing it on a voluntary basis. You might well find multiple FOSS OS are being maintained by a single person who is really into keeping their phone compatible with multiple FOSS projects. Unless you’re going to be that person, you would want to check that’s not the case, because if that person upgrades you may find yourself without support which again is not BIFL.
The closest you’re going to get is probably something like the Fairphone. They’re designed to be long-term repairable, ethically produced and running FOSS. But they are also far from the cutting edge. Pick your poison.
Where would one go to get a custom made backpack with double stitching?
Bit late to the party, but something to be aware of if you’re buying Solovair. I have a pair of astronaut boots, had them for about 20 months, worn them almost daily and I need to get them resoled now. I went to my local cobblers and they said they don’t do Solovair, they just do glue jobs. I went to Solovair (I’m local to their factory) and they said that they’re currently doing so much business that they’re not able to offer resoling. They provided details of two webshops (keycobbler.co.uk and bootrepaircompany.co.uk) who do offer this service, but that involves sending them off for weeks and weeks. So I’m going to need to buy a second pair of boots to wear while my first pair are out for repair. And the resole is a significant chunk of the original boot cost: I spent under £170 on the boots, and they’re going to cost £70 to resole plus shipping.
I’m still going to do it, I love them and I’d have spent a similar amount on trainers in the same period just through wear and tear, but it’s not particularly a money saver or a convenience.
I guess that when I do have two pairs I’ll be able to rotate them daily so this will be something that comes up every four years rather than every two.
They were pretty direct remakes with a few new bugs and a controversial art style. I was never a big DPP fan and the remakes failed to change my mind.
I do think any future remakes will be different though, i vaguely remember a story about ILCA who made BDSP and I don’t think they exist in the same form as they did when developing the game.
There’s a lot of potential options. Gen V remakes are next on the main series remake list. Let’s Go and Legends were both sort-of-mainline-ish games that would be about right for a sequel. I’m betting there’s still more DLC for SV. And wasn’t there a rumour about another Detective Pikachu movie?
Hoplite maybe? It’s on mobile but is a lot of fun.
I’ve not finished it yet due to limited gaming time but it’s clearly not that long. It feels like it should have some replayability but I don’t think it’s very unreasonably priced. Probably not ideal if you’re looking to squeeze every hour of entertainment out of your dollar though.
Terra Nil is mentioned in the article but I must give it a recommendation, it’s very chill and restoring a wasteland or ruined city to a thriving ecosystem is a great counterpoint to building a bustling city.
Right, so I didn’t actually mind the original ENT theme at all during my rewatch earlier this year. Far worse was the outro credits which were deeply jarring every single time.
The revamped theme is appalling though, it’s doubling down on everything that put people off about the original and it’s far, far worse.
Was this game named by a Bojack Horseman character?
Embrace mobile gaming. Especially the classic Nintendo handhelds. I can rock my baby to sleep and play Pokémon Ruby on my GBA at the same time. Embrace RPGs and other games where reaction times don’t matter. If I’m sat in a chair with a sleeping child I can even play a game where reaction speed matters, like Tetris.
Get a flash cart so you don’t have to switch games or carry a library of carts with you. Keep it in your car for play if you’re out a lot. Oh, and get a decent modern screen mod so you can see the screen outside.
Absolutely baffling that this isn’t free. I watched RTGame play it on YouTube and can’t imagine how ripped off I’d feel if I paid cash money for it. I had 1 2 Switch with my switch at launch and was instantly bored by it, but at least it was actually a game.
Bring back Wii Sports.
