It’s always a possibility. I’m not sure about privacy laws in France compared to other places but as their in the EU it’s likely more strict than compared to Britain, however this is the first I’ve heard of DNA testing of any type being illegal anywhere
I found some interesting info. A 3rd great grandfather(I think it was 3rd) served in the CSA. Never felt good about this because obvious reasons. Anyways I found what company he was in the battles ETC. something I discovered for the first time was that he deserted after 3 months. I like to think he joined lost 3 battles in a row stole a horse (he was in a calvary division) and went back home like nothing ever happened but who knows how it really went down it was probably less dramatic than that but hey it’s fun to imagine.

Yep! My family has been in this area since around 1700 as far as I can tell. There’s at least 5 or 6 cemeteries near by that either are [my last name] cemetery or have family members buried in them
I’d like to have an extra person on the mod team to assist if I’m unavailable. Also another person to post. I’m hoping to grow the community more and like a lot of small communities it’s usually just the owner posting( first the first bit) I’d figure getting a mod or 2 to post every once in a while and help out would be a good way to grow the community.
I’ve done a bit of research into this topic and started writing a blog post about it (that I’ll post someday… probably)
I haven’t looked into this part yet but I wonder are the remains cremated and the ashes given to a family member or is the body disposed of in another way?
That’s been something on my list but I’m not sure what company to use. With the whole 23 and me privacy nightmare and bankruptcy I’m not sure what services are left or trustable enough to use.
I saw a couple of examples like that. I’d dread having land dispute back then.
If I remember right didn’t the Golden state killer get caught by a distant relative taking a DNA test?
If you’d like to look https://www.findagrave.com/ Maybe helpful
I mean look at people like Genghis Khan there’s supposedly millions of million descended from him
Sorry to ask but what’s wrong with it? Edit Ah I see whoops glad someone caught that
