For anyone curious, this is the (great) original video this was commented on:

Quik@infosec.pubto Android@lemmy.world•Can I try an alternate android version without nuking my phone?English2·3 months agoYeah I completely get that, I took a week to get to a rudimentary working state and about a month to be content with my configuration with everything else going on in life.
I would recommend making a plan beforehand with what you’ll need to do and then starting on a Friday and battle-proofing everything till Monday if you really depend on it for work. Our life situations unfortunately usually expect us to have a fully “working” smartphone with us with like, a clock app (which GrapheneOS hasn’t pre-installed) that just works etc.
Stuff like this was incredibly annoying, because with e.g. the clock or map example, just not having a “just works” solution pre installed leads to bad situations, like an alarm not ringing when it’s supposed to and stuff like that.
But honestly, this should be easier for you than it was for me, because you already got your go-to open source Android apps– unlike me making the switch directly from iOS.

This is what allowed Temu and Alibaba and Wish and the like to happen (their business model was to send every single product as a single package worth under 800$, leading to enormous shipping times and waste etc., but they don’t have to pay import taxes).

If you’re better than the market, you can borrow until the market price for money (interest rate) adjusts (you become the market) and make money off of it. The thing just happens to be, governments aren’t usually in the being-more-efficient-than-the-market game, so, yes, countries should never do that.

Funding.json is a good idea for a standard proposal and seems to solve most problems I‘d personally recognize with FOSS funding :)
This may be, but the probability is unarguably higher than with Trump. Voting exclusively for candidates you morally agree on only works if enough people have the same morale (in this case i.e. are educated on Israel and so on) and are also not willing to make compromises.
Even if unfortunate, this is currently not the case; and you voting independent has smaller chances of changing that than voting democratic. So you will probably have to accept this situation for the moment and choose the “best actually feasible” strategy— and feasible means having the highest probability to win in real life, not merely trying.
Personally, I’d even argue that it’s unethical to not vote for a candidate like Harris, just because the chances of getting stuff like ranked choice voting or educating voters done (which will then lead to you being able to realistically vote for others) is significantly higher when voting Democrats than… letting Trump win?
Notice that I don’t say you have to agree with anything else she stands for, you’re trying to achieve certain goals/get out of the very unfortunate current situation, and even a low chance of reaching that is infinitely better than none.
