Sarsaparilla@kbin.socialOPto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ordered 20+ groceries from Amazon on Prime Day. Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.1·2 years agoYes. I got a package from Amazon US a week or so after this post and it had that written on it. I pulled it apart to investigate but the padding was not plastic bubbles like the ones in my OP photo. So it must be some sort of corn stuff that can be recycled, but unfortunately I’ve never had Australian Amazon packages in that recyclable padded packaging. We have a stiff cardboard bag that can be recycled but it’s only single layer. My groceries did not even require padded packaging though!

Happens to be KitKat OS. Was able to extend it’s life with a replacement battery off ebay, but VOIP softwares were starting to all update beyond the limits of my device anyway.

Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.2·2 years agoWell my social situation means I have to take a bargain where it becomes available to me. Not just hypothetically, I’ve actually been homeless in the past so I don’t want to end up there again because I was spending more than I need to of my meager income in some desperate attempt to support people who own brick and mortar businesses. That’s a lot more than I’ve ever had.

The postie is delivering rain, hail, or shine. He’s usually already dropped off my delivery while I’m still in bed! It’s a tough job and they don’t get enough praise.

Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.61·2 years agoI mean, if it were 20 different items I could probably put it down to that but there were six packets of each of the flavours and types. You’d think all the Alfredo’s could go in one package, for example, not each in their own padded envelope. Does pasta even need padding? It was just ridiculous, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a disgruntled worker engaged in a bit of malicious compliance!

I sure hope he forgives me. lol.
But anyway, why cat litter? Because it’s heavy, or spills? I’m in Australia so online cat litter offerings are not a cost effective option, but I’ll keep your protest in mind for the future.

All piled on my front porch when I arrived home from work today. The postman must’ve been livid.

It used to be AUD$25 for a box of 12 sachets (which was already expensive for less than a week worth of pet food), creeping up over the last six months, now AUD$37.50.

Sarsaparilla@kbin.socialto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Did this site live and die in 4 days?1·2 years agoI’m hearing ya. I’ve created three accounts now, thinking mastadon, lemmy, and kbin are different … which they are, but also they interact and I could just use one of those accounts to interact? But half the time when I click a link I end up somewhere where I need to sign-in to comment. I’ve learnt today, to search that same thing up on my own server, but I’m still well confused. However I’m also excited to keep trying at this unique new platform because I know I’m gonna have an “ah-ha!” moment eventually. lol. It’ll just take a little personal persistence, and I also believe the accessibility and features will evolve and improve as more join in.
Sarsaparilla@kbin.socialto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Did this site live and die in 4 days?19·2 years agoI’ve been a member of reddit for 17 years and it took almost a decade before it became popular with the masses. People weren’t attracted to the format, didn’t fully understand how reddit worked, or were unaware of it’s existence for a long time, and as such reddit was more popular with the technically minded. I see the same thing here. I fully admit, I am completely lost here, and in fact, this is my first post. So it needs development, for sure, but I do believe that decentralised social networking is going to be the future … we are coming in on the ground floor. It’s just gonna take a long time before the fediverse is even seen by the vast majority, let alone accessible and understood.
Ren is a lyrical genius and I love his rapping style. Great post.
