Did the generated code get merged? I’d be curious to see the PRs

Tamo240@programming.devto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Using A.I. to DESTROY Minesweeper [16:38] | Code Bullet11·24 days agoSorry random internet person let me forward your opinion to my old Computer Science professor and have them update it.
AI as a field goes back to the 50s, long before any concept of machine learning, or what ‘intelligence’ was possible for a computer to achieve.
Tamo240@programming.devto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Using A.I. to DESTROY Minesweeper [16:38] | Code Bullet20·24 days agoAI in the computation sense can refer to any system that appears intelligent. This includes simple logic. It seems to be you that is confusing AI with Machine Learning.
Tamo240@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Vibe Coding is not an excuse for low-quality work2·2 months agoI only use it when I know exactly the code I’m trying to produce, but just saving time if it can write it for me. Somewhere I saw this described as ‘toil’ vs. ‘domain knowledge’, and it definitely reduces toil even if I have to correct it. Anywhere that I wouldn’t know how to correct it, I don’t trust it.
Write better code, with good names and sensible interfaces. Comments can get bugs just like code, but it doesn’t have a compiler or unit tests, so only code review keeps it aligned.
Feel free to contribute any features you feel it is missing
Tamo240@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Pointers for writing software tutorials6·5 months agoThat’s why showing the expected outcome is also very important. It can feel very verbose, but the number of times I’ve been unclear as to if something worked because the documentation goes on immediately to the next step without demonstrating the success/failure states is extremely frustrating.
Tamo240@programming.devto politics @lemmy.world•Bernie Sanders to voters skipping presidential election over Israel: ‘Trump is even worse’2·8 months agoOne of Harris and Trump is going to be the president. Sorry but that is the reality, the time for getting a better candidate has passed.
It is time to pick which one you want. If you don’t vote you don’t care so you accept either outcome.
Voting is not and should not be wholly endorsing the person, but securing the best outcome from the options. You want better options then go into politics yourself.
Tamo240@programming.devto politics @lemmy.world•Bernie Sanders to voters skipping presidential election over Israel: ‘Trump is even worse’1·8 months agoI get your frustration, but it is really important to keep spelling it out. I find it very frustrating to be on the receiving and of lines like
I'm tired of explaining it to you people
when I am earnestly engaging in a conversation for the first time, so I think it’s best to give people the benefit of the doubt that maybe they really don’t know, especially on forums where people other than those commenting will read it also.
Tamo240@programming.devto politics @lemmy.world•Bernie Sanders to voters skipping presidential election over Israel: ‘Trump is even worse’10·8 months agoBecause Harris is open to ceasefire pressure and Trump want’s Israel to ‘Finish the job’.
One’s hands aren’t morally clean if you don’t vote and Trump wins. Not voting is functionally equivalent to voting for whoever wins, and if he does win with a low turnout then those who didn’t vote are responsible for whatever happens.

Tamo240@programming.devto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Ventoy source code contains some unknown BLOBs, still no word on the issue from the dev after months29·9 months agoBinary Large OBject
Basically any binary file, often objected to in open source repos because of the lack of source and ‘openness’. See also the recent xz backdoor.
Presumably it will come back as some free-to-play, live-service microtransaction-filled nightmare that can be supported by a few whales and eventually make up the cost
IIRC water happens to appear similarly to a lot of explosives on the metric they use for what the composition of items in the scanner is.
Improvements are being made though so soon we may be allowed to take water through unrestricted:

The goal is not to stop the people in the queue being attacked, its to stop someone boarding a plane with the means to hijack it

Just started Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice after wanting it for a long time… and I feel like I’m bouncing off it. Having never played any of the Dark Souls series, but having absorbed some of the concepts via cultural osmosis I feel like the game has gone: It’s a soullike, you know what to do from here! But I have no idea what my goals are, other than running around and dying repeatedly, and occasionally finding a ‘bonfire’.
I thought the combat was supposed to be a selling point, but it feels really clunky. Maybe I’m missing something, idk.
