I’m hearing about this for the first time as well. Complete control, huh?

Last time I checked it just gives you a pop-up asking if you’re sure you want to use that word as some people can find it problematic and if you say yes it’ll get posted like a normal tweet.

Thorny_Insight@lemm.eeto Technology@beehaw.org•Twitter API has a list of users who are allowed to use racial slurs44·10 months agoTo my knowledge, twitter doesn’t block anyone from using slurs to begin with. I’m sure you can find plenty used on daily basis on “black twitter” for example.
That being said I’m going to need a more credible source than a random screenshot
I never realized it was something I was supposed to hide or be ashamed of untill I got older. By then I just no-longer cared.

For some reason I thought someone had edited this picture and changed the people in it. I was wrong but since I spent so long going thru my archives to find it I thought I’d share
I will not answer further questions about this picture
Thorny_Insight@lemm.eeto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Am I the only one preferring low quality media over high quality one?English5·11 months agoI prefer 1080p but if not available then 720p is perfectly fine as well. 4k is overkill and I don’t even have a monitor that could play it at native resolution. Where I do prefer “lower quality” though is framerate. I don’t like how 60fps looks so I force YouTube to play videos at 24fps.
Never had issues with them. I’ve even picked them up from the pool with bare hands and they still wont sting.

You’re benefiting from their abusive business model the same whey they themselves are. Justifying the continued use of their services by not paying is just a cope to deal with the cognitive dissonance.
Thorny_Insight@lemm.eeto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•SponsorBlock (and DeArrow): "YouTube is currently experimenting with server-si…" - FosstodonEnglish11·1 year agoI’ll buy premium when they finally manage to either prevent adblocking entirely or make it sufficiently inconvenient. Stopping using YouTube is not an option for me and neither is watching ads. YouTube (along with porn) is the internet for me. If I’m not viewing either content, I’m probably not on my computer.
Hell, I don’t even blame them. I can’t morally justify blocking ads and viewing their content for free. I do it because it’s easy and I get away with it. I don’t believe in ads-based business model and that basically leaves subscribtion as the only viable alternative. Not paying and still using the service isn’t exactly practicing what I preach.

It however doesn’t detect the sponsor but instead it jumps over a part of the video marked with timestamp but with different people seeing different lenght ads, these timestamps no-longer match.

Thorny_Insight@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Euro bottles are so much better nowEnglish3·1 year agoIt’s attached by two “leashes” and if you yank it a bit the other rips off making it pretty much what you described but it’ll still tangle all over your face when you try to drink straight from the bottle and also now you have the sharp bit poking you every time you screw and unscrew the cap. This is not the only design we have. I just happen to shop at LIDL and their bottles are all like this. Some other designs are slightly better.
I call it a “perfect moment” and I try to make a mental note when ever I experience one so that I’ll be more likely to notice the next time it happens. It’s most often in the nature for me as well.
