It depends. Sometimes it hits hard and others I can just ignore it. My daughter and I do like to try to get songs stuck in each other’s heads though, so we’ll constantly quote lyrics to each other and try to pass them off as regular conversation
ToeKneegee@lemm.eeto Autism@lemmy.world•How did you become independent after living with parents all your life?2·2 months agoThe only good answer I have is: I was forced to be independent. As soon as I turned 18, I had to pay rent to stay with my mom. Before that, I had to cook for the family and for as long as I was able to clean, I had chores around the house.
Even now, as a 40 something year old, I’m still learning to be independent and it’s often because I’m forced to. The thing I’ve learned recently is that there are people who will help me through tough times when I need it. It’s okay to lean on your support people to get you back on track because they know they can do the same when they need you. Like, I knew that conceptually but, I really learned it this past winter.
If I had any advice it’s: get out of your comfort zone from time to time. You may find some new comfortable places there.
Dropped my new car off at the body shop because my neighbor decided to hit it while trying to park. The rental car is tiny and smells like someone smoked in it. I’m telling myself “it’s only for 10 days” but I really hope they get done with it early.

Hey, What's Going On!7·2 months agoPlayed board games with a friend last night and it seems like the guys at the board game store are warming up to us a little. I can potentially make new friends! It’s exciting. Too bad I only go there every other week or so
ToeKneegee@lemm.eeto Neurodivergence@beehaw.org•What strengths does your diversity give you?English3·2 months agoI fix things for a living. I’m fairly good at my job because I can ignore the big picture and drill down on the specific problem that needs to be addressed. It also helps that I understand things best by fully understanding them - which is to say I like to know how things are built, so I can guess at their common failure points.
Would a laptop with a touchscreen not work for you?
ToeKneegee@lemm.eeto Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•[Rant] Very new to DND, not sure if my campaign sucks or if this game just isn't for me.8·2 years agoI almost bet the GM found a map they thought looked cool and is just throwing stuff at you to fight because it’s faster and easier than coming up with storylines and characters with motivations. I get it, we GMs get busy with life and stuff too, but if you’ve been doing this for a while, there’s always a reserve of characters or stories that you made but didn’t use which can be pulled into the current game. With a new GM, they may not have that luxury.
All that said, the best course of action seems to be the thing you’ve already concluded: talk to the GM and the group. Maybe let someone else try being GM if it’s just the case of the current one being busy. As others have said, running a prewritten campaign is just fine, especially in Pathfinder. Heck, you can even buy many of them as foundry modules with music, maps and handouts all ready.

I like to tell people “wow, he never does that” even when he totally does that with everyone. It makes people happy

I don’t know if you’re on BoardgameArena, but Targi available to play there without a paid membership
I don’t know how unconventional my interests are but: TTRPGs, board games, and uhh I guess taking things apart to see how they were made is interesting but only if I can hold the pieces in my hands
