You ask an LLM to code something and then just run the code blind without reading it and if it seems to work, publish the application. You can imagine how many performance and security problems it produces.

Walop@sopuli.xyzto ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•If my brain had hands I would accomplish great thingsEnglish63·2 years agoBut your brain does have hands. They are your hands. Your hands are wired directly to your brain.
And yes, there’s five things you would have to or want to do, but do not quite know which to start or how you should exactly to do them and you end up doing anything else you are confident with.

Fun fact: US has so weak food counterfeit laws and enforcement it has become the dumping ground for low quality oil or even mixed, making it an allergy hazard. If you haven’t gone out of your way to ensure you are getting the real deal, and paid a premium for it, you probably have never tasted genuine extra virgin olive oil. https://www.mashed.com/281801/the-real-reason-your-olive-oil-is-probably-fake/

Except of course the remake, but that also was a very long time ago.
Walop@sopuli.xyzto Memes@lemmy.ml•Amazon company names are running out of letter combosEnglish36·2 years agoHalf as Interesting explained how it ended up like this. https://piped.video/watch?v=_Bq-6GeRhys
TL;DW; Amazon tried to offload vetting of the third party vendors to the patent and trademark office by requiring their brands are registered, but the vendors ended up generating nonsense brand names that automatically pass because there are too many applications and the names aren’t obviously going to conflict with existing ones.
Yeah, that’s the joke. The video ends abruptly because of a segfault.
Exceptions actually have a huge performance hit, you should only use them in a HALT EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY situations and never in anything that could be called repeatedly. We have refactored few of those to be 10-100 times faster by just returning success: false instead of throwing and catching exceptions.
After working few years on a complex web application, I am starting to feel this style. Doing RESTful APIs for anything else than dead simple CRUD is pain.
