I find using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hls-stream-detector/? makes it simple to grab streams url and download them using yt-dlp.
Could be an idea to make it easier to set a grub password during distro installation, that I can agree on.
Honestly I simply found the statement to give very little to discuss.
Regarding editing the Kernel command line; that would require that you already have access to your Debian install and have the rights to edit the Kernel command line.
Regarding your link in general I find myself at odds with development practices that removes my own agency. I can see how for many end-users it’s good, just like how most car owners shouldn’t try to fix their car troubles themselves, but I would start looking for another OS if it starts pulling auto-updating á la Windows.
Just something to consider as you’re thinking about using a virtual machine for windows; you have enough RAM to comfortably run a linux host with Windows 11 + Debian Stable VMs for work + work db server.
I’m allergic to mixing private stuff with work stuff and there’s a great thing to be able to shut work down at the end of the day. (Freeing up all your hardware for your private fun at the same time)
Pro of running an immutable distro is that it is much harder to break during daily use. The con is that you’re pretty much setup to only use flatpaks and some things like abraunegg’s onedrive aren’t available as a flatpak.
Have you considered making the Win10 Win11 VM a complete work jail? If you do all things work in there then you get a nice separation of private and work and won’t have to worry about work apps linux compatibility.
edit: Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025
I second material files
Would an alternative be to simply edit the pdfs?
The german software FlexiPDF still allows you to buy a yearly version for a one off sum and allow you to use a free trial with watermark to check whether it works well enough for you before you buy.

You’re downloading the project, not the release

Only one I’ve heard of is https://github.com/complexlogic/flex-launcher
Well at least you got a great story to tell when people says the /s is unnecessary. :)
Seems to be https://sh.itjust.works/u/Sunshine@lemmy.ca that’s trigger happy.
Here’s the 2021 archive.org backup of it, if it goes down again:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hls-stream-detector/ works for most streaming websites
Compatibility with Android usually means running DAVx⁵

A larger package than just CalDAV and CardDAV would be to look into Gromox with Grommunio-DAV.
It’s on my “I should check this out” list, so no personal experience.
https://github.com/grommunio/gromox
https://github.com/grommunio/grommunio-dav
They also have support for Exchange ActiveSync through another optional addon

Followup; Not as cheap but there are M.2 to SATA cards available too, if your mb has no empty PCIe but do have empty M.2 available.
Might also look at larger drives. When I compared 3.5’’ drives then the 24TB is cheaper per terabyte than both 16TB and 12TB. The ones I compared are listed below:
Seagate Exos X24 Harddisk ST24000NM002H 24TB 3.5" Serial Attached SCSI 2
Seagate Exos X24 Harddisk ST16000NM001H 16TB 3.5" Serial ATA-600 7200rpm
Seagate IronWolf Harddisk ST12000VN0008 12TB 3.5" SATA-600 7200rpm
Might wanna look at njal.la
Unless you’re planning on distributing cp or anything like that it should give you the layer of privacy you want.
