damon@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Jack Dorsey says he quit Bluesky because it was becoming another Twitter1·1 year agoIt does block them more so than on fedi. When I block someone they can’t see my content nor account, they can’t log out and go see my content. It’s not just filtered, also they have banned accounts and removed content
Those aren’t the kind of forks that this article is addressing

damon@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Threads accounts will be available on Mastodon and other services that use the ActivityPub protocol.1·2 years agoThey don’t have to take energy to adopt the format. You do realise that current ActivityPub services don’t support all services and features of the other platforms? You realise a great deal of Fediverse utilises Mastodon’s implementation of AP? So a lot of what people are worried about Threads doing has already been done by Mastodon.
damon@lemmy.worldto Apple@lemmy.world•Apple criticized for blocking Beeper Mini iMessage on Android app - 9to5Mac5·2 years agoI just fine it odd that people are unhappy with Apple. Beeper was spoofing Apple’s servers to make it look like an iMac was requesting the ping. Apple isn’t a charity they do not have to allow unauthorised third party access. I would hope none of us would allow unauthorised access to our servers.
I would argue that’s centralisation. Instances are inherently centralised, they own the user identity, relationships and data. A user “migration” which isn’t really a migration it’s an alt account on another server, if that server is blocking or is blocked then that users social graph can be significantly impacted. There’s no way to really migrate their content.
