That really assumes the person being asked has some idea what the talking phase is. You literally cannot clearly answer a question that doesn’t make sense. Is ‘talking’ a positive thing? An ‘only friends’ reference? Coming back from an argument?

Probably both, except within the bounds of easily ‘random’ bounds. Supposing it were possible for a mammal to be green, it wouldn’t matter of green were ‘better’, unless it happened at the right time. Orange could have won out simply because it was good enough to do one thing (camoflauge for pretty) and didn’t have enough downside to message that benefit (high visibility to hunters or less valuable prey). Heck, a gene that turned a lion invisible could have turned up and it wouldn’t be guaranteed to carry forward even if it didn’t have any downsides if the random recipient also happened to be clumsy or unlucky and died of some random injury or disease.
Evolution doesn’t really have any tools that aren’t random, at least until intelligence came around to provide other ‘non natural’ paths, though of course those are just as natural as the others, just that we think we’re special and above nature.
Would be interesting if everyone still stuck using it consistently advertised a discount for finding them on any site besides Twitter. Might not make the biggest difference by itself but it could start a trickle that turns into the flood.
Basically a surcharge for users that only know Twitter or otherwise wouldn’t be bothered by the noise. Maybe call it a tarrif that can be easily avoided :)
Another way to look at it is like having to use Windows because that’s what they use at your job. There’s a problem but because most people are oblivious or don’t care, the momentum is difficult to escape. You may find it easy to say ‘quit you job then’ to fully show your disapproval but not everyone has that luxury.
I do hope everyone that is stuck using it mentions in every commission or interaction that they are available on different sites as well though.
Anyone still using it or of convenience though should quit immediately.
Do you think that’s what he meant by POST? Could have meant data delivery through http? Do you think they should know that one too?
That’s hardly a ‘lib move’, more like an ingrained human reaction to justify practically every action ever.
Kind of, though with rules. I think I’m describing something closer to structured, encrypted torrents.
On a related note, it would be nice if there was a shared storage option for self hosting. It wouldn’t be the same as self hosting, but more like distributed hosting where everyone pools storage they have available and we could have an encrypted sharing option.
Your ‘timing’ thing would probably work, but if not, mounting the the ring away from the gun would only protect the gun, not the ring. I could see a timing or slowed effect could allow the ball to pass through before it expanded
Would be fun watching him each time he carefully loaded it too… Probably a broken toe or two if he isn’t careful :)
Or, if you want to shut it down, the plan works, but since the magic effect has a range, to ball begins expanding before it makes it to the ring, taking the end of the barrel and the ring with it. If the ring is indestructible the character has to go on a search for the ring at the point of impact every time, it i expands within the ring, meaning you have a canon ball that explodes at the end of your gun with shrapnel, or you have to melt the ball down to retrieve the ring downrange.
If it dispels magic before it gets to the ring it’s going to be an issue…
I think the engineering part kicks in once the cannonball leaves the ring, or maybe around the mass of the shrunken ball. If the cannon ball retains it’s mass in it’s shrunken size does the gun have enough power to move it? If it does, then the gun is a ship cannon already, just a convenient size. If it doesn’t and can only shoot because the balls are as easy to fire as regular shot, then as soon as the ball exits the ring it is a cannonball being moved with the force of a small shot and likely drops to the ground an inch or so past the muzzle.
They were discussing converting the AU to 1 ‘your mom’ as a better frame of reference, but France wouldn’t sign on
Yes, but that’s because that’s the way your mind interpreted it, it could have just as easily thought that the arrow (little side) should point in the forward direction from left to right, so ‘point to the bigger number’.
Basically two completely unrelated things both make sense to you in the same direction, and that happened to be the direction that the the people picking the symbols also picked. If they had simply picked the opposite direction, all the people who currently struggle might find out perfectly natural and be confused as to why ‘you’ have such a problem understanding it.
Problem with a single time zone is working across them. They’re a huge pain in the ass, but it would be even worse without them. Keeping track of who is in what time zone is difficult, but keeping track of everyone’s schedule without using them as a placeholder would be horrible. ‘what time is a good time for breakfast where you are’ and then doing the math anyway just isn’t as convenient as ‘oh, it’s already 5pm where you are’
Imagine that actually goes through and one of the Republicans actually gets a conscience and falls on his sword and throws in for Kamala.
Also a separation so the smell can’t be directly attributed to him.
Well ‘no benefits’ is a bit of a stretch.
What specific phase is it? I know you mention there is ambiguity, but is it something before asking someone on a serious date? Is it after a few dates and deciding if things are serious?
I think all I was saying is that you can’t give advice like ‘don’t pussyfoot around, just answer the question’ when a big part of the topic is ‘what does this question mean?’
