kamen@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•All this produce is going to spoil at the food bank where I volunteerEnglish5·7 days agoYou’re doing your part, but someone else isn’t. Everyone should learn as part of their upbringing that wasting food is bad - just like littering and thousands of other things. Unfortunately we live in a world where someone has to be fined for them to realise they’re doing something wrong.
If you’re consciously and intentionally using JavaScript like that, I don’t want to be friends with you.

Don’t know about compact cameras, but this thing was big with DSLRs 10-15 years ago. What’s pretty impressive to me is that it didn’t require flashing the firmware, it just booted from a memory card.

While AI might help at systemising and/or summarising already existing information, I wouldn’t rely on it at all for any creative thought. And what’s worse, the more people spare content like this, the more tolerant they’ll become to it, bringing the overall quality down.
Yeah, some of them like this one are not very well thought out, but I think for the most part they are - and when you put them in context, they should be searchable too. I’m saying this as someone who has never owned anything from Apple and who generally dislikes the brand.
Can’t not think of Apple who have been doing simple names like this forever. But contrary to this here, it seems to work in the Apple ecosystem because over there things like that mean one thing.
People are onto something though - there’s been a noticeable shift from social media just showing you your feed in a chronological manner to it showing you personally tailored content that shuffles on each refresh and aims to hook you into endless doomscrolling. I understand perfectly well what’s an algorithm, but good luck explaining to people that it’s not that specific thing.
It’s simple: remove the wall as well.

Getting to keep your job is your medal then.
Yeah, in this sense I agree. I’m overanalyzing again.
Science laws won’t cease to exist, but if you wipe out everyone’s memory, their knowledge of that science will cease to exist - so they’ll have to figure it out from zero - and there’s no guarantee that there won’t be another placeholder in a sense (i.e. what religions have been historically) for what’s yet to understand.
Edit: maybe it’s more accurate to say science laws would cease to exist, but won’t cease to work; they would cease to exist in a formulated way (in that hypothetical memory loss) since they were put together by humans.
Asking the real questions
… with the difference being that it’s not scripted.
Okay, I get the idea of smart AC for example - be elsewhere, turn it on remotely so that it’s comfortable when you get home. Fine. But a toilet? You are physically present there, you can push a button to flush. Or are you telling me that you’re shitting remotely now too?
kamen@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Bingo of crappy IT processesEnglish1·3 months agoSomewhat agree, but since Scrum is supposed to be bent to the team’s needs, it might differ from team to team, but it’s fine as long as those numbers are consistently used in one team.
If story points are now hours, I hope you’re fine with me putting a 40 on that ticket.
I’d argue that deploying from one codebase to 3+ different platforms is new functionality, although not for the end user per se.
I wish though that more of the web apps would come as no batteries included (by default or at least as a selectable option), i.e. use whatever webview is available on the system instead of shipping another one regardless of if you want it or not.
OnePlus probably.
