My only quibble would be to swap “pay” for “invest” which captures both the dynamic of up front expense and expected savings from ending recurring subscription fees. That’s how I look at it. Every penny I put into my own digital sovereignty is an investment that will yield returns both financial and otherwise.

I say this quite a bit. Whatever the opposite of buyer’s remorse is, that is how I feel about the Steam Deck. Hands down the best purchase I made last year, and that is continually affirmed.

Damn this is so fucking true. I am not one for self-diagnosis but I’m appalled by how many memes from this community I relate to on a cellular level.

Do it. I canceled all my streaming and music subscriptions about a year ago and would highly recommend it to all right thinking people.
