That’s a bold prediction, but I really don’t think this is a body count type of situation. I think they’re trying to deter new illegal immigrants from coming in by scaring them about jailing them. At the very least, I hope all countries involved do the responsible adult thing, and help out the poor people who effectively dont have a home.
If it turns into a body count type of situation, that’s inviting civil war, and I don’t think anyone wants that. Whatever it is, at the end of it Republicans and Democrats are pro-America and pro-Americans.
I shared the article because I saw some nuggets of constitutional checks working, like the judge saying he couldn’t end birth right citizenship. I hate the idea of people getting worked up the same way J6ers did and think the world is ending.
The lack of information and flurry of information together could create a bad situation like J6, I sincerely hope it doesn’t come to that or worse.

3·10 months agoDEI is for all identities, not just POC. Creating more process is part of the the CIA field manual for fighting fascists, hence the question, are more bureaucratic jobs being created in some misguided attempt to “fight US imperialism”?

1·10 months agoNo, I didn’t say minorities, you’re assuming that. I was pointing out the part in the text which says, “fight fascists by creating bureaucracy”. There are lots of articles already which point out that DEI is for all identities, not just POC.

3·10 months agoI am asking these questions because we already have EO laws and ADA policies. We also have anti-harassment policies. What does DEI add that’s new other than create more bureaucratic jobs?
From my perspective, DEI just creates divisions between groups by splitting people into distinct identities.

3·10 months agoPlease stop. I literally made this thread a while back

I believe in people getting opportunities. What I don’t like are thought police, or thought correction officers.
Left authoritarianism is still authoritarianism.
I also don’t take it for granted that someone talking about “empathy” or “compassion” necessarily doesn’t have ulterior motives.

3·10 months agoSo riddle me this, why is it hard to believe that DEI type policies could be plot by some organization or country against the U.S. when there’s literally a field manual which says that such policies should be used against “fascists”. People on Lemmy call the U.S. imperialist all the time.

2·10 months agoPeople seriously need to chill the fuck out with the Nazi comparisons.
Trump won popular vote, that’s literally a democracy.
I wish the Republicans had more class in dealing with political opponents, or in getting their point across about some issues, but they don’t. Their lack of finesse just makes people overreact. These overreactions are reminding me of the J6ers, though.

9·10 months ago“To lower morale and with it, production, be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. Discriminate against efficient workers; complain unjustly about their work.”
So is this why DEI exists?
It’s a little silly equating one (albeit learned and genius) guy’s opinion as something which will work across the board for everyone, everywhere. There’s nothing democratic about socialism, just as there’s nothing democratic about the unregulated and oligarchic capitalism we have today.
At a very simple and human level, there are a number of explanations for why some elites and intellectuals gravitate towards socialism, this has been discussed to death in many places, but here’s an accessible article.
https://iea.org.uk/why-intellectuals-are-so-upset-by-the-injustices-of-capitalism/
To add some economist perspectives, here’s another article
What I find interesting from the above article is that China currently does very efficient market socialism, which tbh if the U.S. was to implement would make the U.S. a more powerful economic force to contend with. The caveat will be that U.S. citizens will no longer have the right to means to production, or land ownership. Such systems have no respect for individual liberties. The relative rate of poverty and inequality in the U.S. does not merit this kind of shift versus what it sacrifices.
The only countries which have issues with capitalism are the economic loser countries. Here’s the problem though, there are so many examples of countries which could have been economic losers, but instead turned it around for them because those countries had good sense and controlled their levels of corruption. The only people in countries who have problems with capitalism are the economic losers. The best way to correct those woes is through taxation and social programs, not a forced or authoritarian formula of break-shit-and-take-shit.
Edit I won’t respond to any comments to my post, I just don’t have the time to poke at this today lol, but don’t take my no response as a signal of agreement, just saying

politics @lemmy.world•It’s Clear Enough What Elon Musk Did. The ADL’s Response Is Pathetic.
24·10 months agoThe ADL is likely giving a calculated response because of what happened last time Nazis took over a western country. It’s really sad that people are letting Nazis take over the US over what seems to be fear of AI and influx of immigrants from LatAm countries.
Couple this Nazi bullshit with what the Trump admin said yesterday about Israel having a biblical right to the land in the West Bank, it’s clear the plan is to eventually “gently encourage” Jewish “immigration” from the U.S. to Israel. Because Nazis don’t have any principles per se, and people like that especially don’t care about the Bible. Sadly, it seems that American conservatives are essentially Nazis now.

5·10 months agoSo interesting thing to note from history, in many cases western people or nations pulled ahead by betraying non-western allies or peoples. The prosperity of the current globalist, neoliberal world is built on multicultural alliances.
Basically people like this are signaling to anyone who’s paying attention and has been keeping score of historical record “DONT TRUST US, WE WILL BETRAY YOU!!”. There’s just not enough economic activity in the western nations to uphold their current levels of activity and productivity without multicultural alliances, so this is an interesting turn.
Power is an interesting concept because a lot of it is assumed on the part of those who claim it, and those who relinquish it often don’t even realize the cards they hold because they’re gaslit into believing the lies of their opponents. What a shitty and annoying world, and here I was hoping for a Star Trek future in my lifetime.
Lastly, the whole “white supremacy” thing doesn’t make sense when there are people of Persian descent who are more Aryan than many white Europeans, so that’s a huge lol.
In a way, yes, but the key point of the scientific method is testing and validating hypotheses to confirm existing models or theories.
Everything can be questioned in a sensible way, but if you’re going against the grain of established mountains of evidence, then you have to work just as hard to provide counter evidence or proofs.
The burden on proof for fantastical claims is on the person or persons making it.
Yes, that’s why the skepticism and scientific method is needed

1·10 months agoOkay, here’s someone else then, basically there’s no ownership on land by anyone in China.

The 90% figure also excludes rural residents, so it’s probably inflated.

People are setting up some processes to respond to all of this. Not everything is worth reacting to as it’s a distraction.
