  • While I was medically disqualified from service (back injury) I grew up around the military and most of my friends and family either have served or are still active duty. If there was a military coup I would be cautiously optimistic. I would hope they would take power, calm things down, and then call for new elections…I would hope they would do that. In reality if they did perform a successful coup, I have a feeling that the power would be addicting and starship troopers would become a documentary.

TL;DR, either way embrace the suck cuz we is fucked.

  • I do this too, though I have one scenario that I replay variations of where a disgruntled employee comes back with a group of mercenaries to take revenge and “do damage to the company” and I take them down John McClane style.

I of course am handsomely rewarded by the company and both respected and a little feared by my coworkers. That’s usually where I snap out of it since that’s the most unbelievable part.

  • Having spent a year and a half in a relationship with a bipolar woman who regularly refused to take her meds, this is a common thing. Goes off the meds, gets paranoid, believes people are out to get them, turns on everyone trying to help.

It’s nearly impossible to get through the mindset that someone in that state is in. I had to take my ex to the hospital twice to get her committed so they could force her to take her meds. It’s horrible, and you fight having to do that to someone you care about, but sometimes it’s the only way to help them.

  • Not a problem, hope it helps. I’ve been there, I spent 12 1/2 years self-employed, my boss was such an ass I had to threaten to unionize to get any change. Yeah definitely look into neurofeedback if you get the chance, it can really help. Just a heads up, I’ve seen apps that claim to do the same thing, their crap, it’s just a placebo that you get a subscription for.

We all have to find what works for us, and it looks like you’ve found your’s. You can try experimenting with different times and different break methods, just make sure to pay attention to the outcome. Also being self-employed you won’t have the benefit/burden of having a supervisor holding you accountable, so I would suggest logging your times, you may think something is working but once you write it out and see a pattern you can see if it really is or not… I totally haven’t fallen into this trap and am totally not speaking from experience…lol.

Always willing to help where I can, if you want to message me feel free. If I can help I will, I may be slow to respond though, life and all.

  • Yeah I’m definitely going to have to take a second look at that, I may soon have to read a bunch of government rules and regulations documents if I get a promotion I’m shooting for, and being able to have that read them to me would be a huge help.

The only reason I would say you should still try for a diagnosis is that it would allow you to request minor accommodations to help you at work. My supervisor knows about my diagnosis and knows that I’m going to show inactive from time to time because I’ve taken a break to rest my brain by goofing off on my phone. She also knows that I’m still at my computer and ready to take a call if one comes in during that time. I admit I got lucky with my boss, and not every employer will allow that kind of thing, but it’s worth a shot, my boss saw how my productivity stayed up when I took small breaks vs. when I didn’t, so that helped. If you have a good relationship with your boss then maybe research work place coping techniques and develop a plan for how to use them. Then go to your boss and explain that while you did not get diagnosed you were right on the edge and you want to try these techniques to help you improve your productivity.

Yeah this ADHD life is good, I haven’t been through the site in a few years but I doubt it’s gotten worse since my last time there and it was already recommendation worthy back then. Honestly I bet you could find a bunch of coping techniques right on the site.

Side note, if you do get diagnosed and the doctor mentions neurofeedback do it if you can. My doctor took part in the trials for ADHD and I was one of the test subjects. After two years of training and testing I gained a ton of control, not 100% of course, but enough that I’ve never been prescribed medication.
