This petition is for developing something dubbed “EU-Linux”, so if implemented as is will be pretty uniform
Jeez, what an impressive troll work in the comments
I’m afraid that if the sanctions will continue to be a go-to method of dealing with geopolitical rivals, we may end up with a few divergent forks. One for US and “the west” block, one for Chinese comrades with their junior Russian partners, and maybe one for Indian code gurus who don’t like both sides and have capable engineering resources themselves.
Not nationality but alleged involvement with sanctioned organizations. There are plenty of Russian names on maintainers list remaining.
You can do 2FA with Keepass, just not TOTP. Add a key file or a hardware key on top of your master password and you pass “something that you have and something that you know” test
The header is misleading. Read the article and the details of that research. To make it work they propose to add 3.75% sales tax on everything except necessities, wealth tax for >$1mil net worth, tax capital gains as ordinary income, and keep existing Medicare paycheck tax same and employers contributions but slightly smaller.
It might be fairer system, and it will be more humane system for lower middle income folks who cannot afford health insurance and don’t qualify for Medicaid.
But it’s a lot of new taxes. They say that for top 20% earners the net healthcare cost will be higher. And all the lobbying from insurance business… i just don’t see this could pass.
Why don’t you read the article? The proposed system still has employer payments, but promises reduction of these payments which should give a good boost for businesses.
Because we all know that a sergeant and soldiers can’t even hit a starship from 10 meters. Yes, Stormtroopers, I’m talking about you. What, this is what community again?
The article says they replaced them with remote workers in India, I’m assuming with even lower wages
I’m running Nextcloud from a Turnkey LXC template that’s available in Proxmox. Runs solid, I have no complaints for performance or stability. But upgrades are manual and very involved. It’s not too complicated, but there is always something that needs extra attention or troubleshooting. I also wasn’t able to figure out Turnkey migration toolset that they suggest to use for major upgrades, such as to new version of OS.
I second this. It makes total sense - computer memory is a volume to be filled with data. They ain’t call parts of a hard drive volumes for nothing.
This could be caused by the training dataset cutoff date. These models are not being trained on real time, so they don’t have information about recent events. War in Ukraine is lasting longer than 2 years already, and the current Gazan conflict is relatively recent. My quick search didn’t find what Gemini dataset cutoff date is.
Well, my original plan was to copy configuration over after I install apos that are not available as flatpaks. Looks like I can copy configuration for those too, just to another location
Interesting. It says that the project is in pre-alpha stage… not sure if I would be able to verify the scripts it generates
That’s what I mostly do now. But it requires some extra work, as some apps are not available in Ubuntu DEB repository. Also, I don’t like the approach that Canonical takes, pushing snaps so much
I really like GNOME. I know not enough about security of it compared to Cinnamon
I see your point… I use Debian for my self-hosted environment, so having similar system on desktop may save some cognitive load. My main arguments against Debian are (maybe misinformed though):
So yeah, looks like it’s just upgrades… Gives me something to think about while I’m moving my apps to flatpaks
Thanks! TIL about EveryDoor.
