As we have learned over the last few years, laws are only as strong as their enforcement mechanism. If the institutions responsible for upholding the law fail to do that, or even enable violating the law even more, then the law is useless.
That’s basically my only hope. Incompetence, bickering, infighting, and just generally falling apart from within their own hate machine as these kinds of ideologies tend to do.

The USA is run by unpaid 22 year old interns being supervised by underpaid 24 year olds.
Old people in charge are definitely a problem (McConnell, Feinstein etc) but the people in their offices doing all the heavy lifting are basically children.
It’s like that episode of Next Generation “Remember Me” when the universe is shrinking and everyone’s disappearing and the Enterprise computer keeps gaslighting Dr Crusher trying to convince her it’s fine, everything’s fine, this is totally normal. But it’s not fine, it really isn’t.

I remember one scene where our heroes are fighting Jem Hadar in hand to hand combat and Odo is there (with his shapeshifting abilities, not during the arc where he’s stuck as a solid). Odo is punching people in the face and stuff. I remember thinking, couldn’t he just morph into a buzz saw and spin around? Or turn into an octopus with eight terminator-like hand swords? I used to have strong opinions on my OS. Then I got a job and all I use is outlook and excel. Now I don’t care about my operating system. I’m not even sure which version of windows I’m running without checking. 10 I guess?

Sick reference, I hadn’t thought of that song in years. She was bullied and harassed endlessly over it. Turns out it was just a relatively well produced amateur music video she did with her friends one day for fun. I always thought it was a poorly produced professional song/video being force fed to us. Only if you know no government has ever lasted forever, and think humans are capable of great evil. Even if not…it’s just best practices…think about targeted attacks, corporate espionage, vengeance, things like that.
Yeah it’s weird, 10+ years ago or so I feel like I had SO MUCH DATA and it was always an issue. Now I really don’t have anything. A few gigs of photos I guess, some various files, but that’s it. I guess I used to have a lot more media like movies and porn, which I don’t really need anymore.
If you ever get raided by the Feds they’ll probably raid your friends and family’s houses too so it is generally advisable to avoid using friends and family for offsite storage.

I gotta say I’m feeling a little bit better about the election results. They’ve made it clear they don’t intend to do a single thing they talked about, and that it is, was, and always will be 100% about money. So I don’t think we really need to worry about WWIII, Gilead, mass deportations and arrests etc, because that would disrupt business and make the billionaires slightly - ever so slightly - less billionairish.
