At first I thought that might be a Pepsi reference, but you are probably too young to know about that.
Trying to treat the discussion as a philisophical one is giving more nuance to ‘knowing’ than it deserves. An LLM can spit out a sentence that looks like it knows something, but it is just pattern matching frequency of word associations which is mimicry, not knowledge.

I asked ChatDVP for a response to your post and it said you weren’t funny.
It doesn’t ‘know’ anything. It is glorified text autocomplete.
The current AI is intelligent like how Hoverboards hover.
snooggums@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•To join Facebook these days, one must record a video selfieEnglish6·5 days agoI had one many years ago because my wife talked me i to it and ‘deleted’ it due to not using it after a couple years because it was showing me other things than just my contacts even back then. It was mostly a way to see my hogh school acquaintences and childhood friends who moved far away were still alive.
The superficial connections were fine, but not engaging like nearby friends. I have one friend who does post there and sometimes forgets to put it elsewhere, but my wife lets me know when he does.
Note: I put ‘deleted’ because there is zero chance they deleted anything other than the ability to log in.
snooggums@lemmy.worldto Cars - For Car Enthusiasts@lemmy.world•Those who drive stickshift, what is your most (and least) favorite reverse gear position?English5·6 days agoRight and down is my favorite and I hate everything else. Had a five speed Honda and Toyota for a couple of decades and loved that setup.
Left and up is first gear, so I don’t want anything to the left of that. To start moving I want the stick to be going the same direction as the car, so up to the left for forward and down to the right for reverse just makes sense to me. I think I drove a really old farm truck that had the pull up to put it in reverse and it was fine for that setting, but would have been annoying for a daily driver.

My guess is that women who have had their pain dismissed for their entire lives fall into the trap of internalizing the dismissal.

snooggums@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Marco Rubio clashes with Democratic senator in heated testimony: ‘I regret voting for you’English2·10 days agoIf zero Dems voted for Rubio then Rubio would still be in the same position but the Dems wouldn’t look like jackasses for giving him votes. It wasn’t damage control, it was a self goal.
How is rolling over for the Republicans going to work for them in the next election?
snooggums@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•US Senate passes ‘no tax on tips’ bill in unanimous voteEnglish6·10 days agoI’ve always done 20% because it is easier back when 15% was the norm and in the vast majority of cases it was less than $1 difference. You are right that there is no reason to increase the percentage when the prices are rising anyway.
Also, basing the tip on the food cost is a stupid system in the first place. The waitress at the diner where a meal costs $10 is doing just as much work as the one at the high end restaurant that charges $50.
snooggums@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•US Senate passes ‘no tax on tips’ bill in unanimous voteEnglish15·10 days agoPeople are about to get more stingey with tipping too I imagine.
I’m going to be avoiding places that tips expanded into to subsidize wages entirely. Sit down restaurants will still get tips until we can get rid of them entirely, but that’s it.
snooggums@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Marco Rubio clashes with Democratic senator in heated testimony: ‘I regret voting for you’English4·10 days agoNot voting for shitty Republican nominees would be a fucking start. Whining about what the administration is doing while actively supporting it is the fucking opposite of attacking the Republicans.
Obstruct the horrible shit with procedural steps. Get on the news and call RFK Jr a “FUCKING LIAR” about not being an antivaxxer. Be direct instead of using coy phrasing that goes over the general public’s head. Be crass! Be anything other than the milquetoast wet blankets that they continue to be.

Who fucking cares? Everyone knew Rubio is a complicit sack of shit. Dogs knew it.
Every fucking Dem senator voting for Rubio when he was going to be confirmed anyway makes them all look complicit with Trump administration. What a bunch of chickenshits supporting traitors who never needed their votes anyway.
Frankly, every Democrat in the Senate should be on the attack and profusely apologizing for their stupidity.
They shouldn’t have voted for Rubio in the first place!

“I have to tell you directly and personally that I regret voting for you for secretary of state,” said Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen,
That is not what I said. In fact, it is the opposite of what I said.
I said that treating the discussion of LLMs as a philosophical one is giving ‘knowing’ in the discussion of LLMs more nuance than it deserves.
