I feel like “AI Mouse” is right up their alley.

I’m sure some minority of the population is misogynistic and wouldn’t vote for a woman. I just don’t think it’s enough misogynists to ruin their chances.
Both suffered from being establishment candidates in an anti-establishment era.
Yes, Biden definitely suffered from this.
Both were only really willing to push to milquetoast progressive policies.
In the primaries, absolutely. However, once Biden won, he took on projects from the progressive wing, likely in exchange for full throated endorsement/support. Green new deal type stuff. Not amazing, but not nothing. A lot of the more progressive goals were wrecked by Democrats’ hopeless naivety, or feigned ignorance, when attempts were made to reach across the aisle and get some consensus from Republicans… who had made it crystal fucking clear that their only goal was obstruction and sabotage. Then other Democrats straight up ruined it themselves. Anyway…
Both followed disappointing democratic presidents that promised a lot and delivered little, often due to their own party sabotaging attempts at major progressive reform.
Biden’s biggest advantage was that he followed Trump. I’m fucking appalled that people had already forgotten the first time. Makes me wonder if it wasn’t rigged by Republicans more thoroughly than had become obvious.
While those are two possible points of data, there are a number of other factors that contributed to each Democratic candidates’ loss vs. Trump.
I truly think that Democrat voters want real, progressive change (even if they find words like “socialism” scary) but most Democrat politicians aren’t willing to anger their wealthy Third Way/Neoliberal/Abundance/whatever-the-fuck-they-want-to-call-themselves donors.
The Constitution is conservative toilet paper unless they are referencing it for their own gain. They define reality in the moment as what is most convenient for them. Also, if you disagree with them you hate America, obviously.
I think a major part of it is education and exposure. Conservativism is, generally, a desire to halt or even roll back “progress”. The embrace of traditions and nostalgia for the imaginary “good old days”. You know what your parents and your community taught you. You’ve established what normal is from your small sample size. Why change things? Everyone you know gets along just fine and you like the way it is. Different is scary.
Unfortunately, the world is really fucking complicated. Simple explanations can make perfect sense when your understanding is simple. However, the more you learn about the world, the more diversity you are exposed to, the more context you discover, the more stereotypes get broken… the more accommodating and progressive you usually become.
The will and the resources have been there trying to move in this direction for a long time. I do agree that he’s absolutely fast tracked the process. His complete disregard for civility, shameless willingness to grift, and transparently transactional nature have enabled the absolute worst in us. From hateful, racist poor folks to deranged religious nutjobs to narcissistic billionaires - they’ve all been given the green light now.
I just hope that everyone takes note of which side people are on and, when this is all over, make sure that the memory of those who stood on the wrong side of history are so shamed, ostracized, disgraced, and hated that this shit doesn’t happen again.
To be fair, Trump is not the source of the problem. He’s a Heritage Foundation puppet, and those psychos kind of have people everywhere right now.
He’s not a crybaby. He’s trying to make dissent illegal in preparation for a fascist takeover of the government.
The writing is already on the wall for Hegseth. Is he trying to pretend he deserves some credit for being a maverick?
Sorry everyone, forget everything I said. This one person says that the first reason in my list of reasons of why it can be effective to form a tenants union isn’t a big deal in their state. I guess that miraculously invalidates all of my other points that aren’t related the legal fees of the eviction process. Obviously, it also applies to every other state, even if the fees thing is different there for some reason.
It can cost landlords a lot of money. You can evict everyone but then you need to actually go through the process with them, one by one. The union can also collectively call attention from the municipality, file official complaints, etc.
If you rent strike and the landlord evicts eveyone, then they need to ready all the units all at once with none of the units generating any income. Assuming they have maintenance staff, they don’t have enough to handle that kind of volume. They’ll need to contract it out or deal with no income as units get ready one by one. The only downside (upside for them) is that they might be able to raise the rents on new tenants if demand is high enough.
Those in power absolutely know these things but making things more difficult is the actual point. Voter fraud is extremely rare. The justification is all bull shit.
It’s ultimately about preventing people who might vote Democrat from voting. If it affects a ton of Republican voters that’s fine so long as it hits disproportionately more Democrats.
Don’t forget that when it crashes, they’ll get to try to rebuild the system so that it’s more stable for the capitalist class and workers have fewer rights and options.
Thanks for being so detailed!
I use caddy for straightforward https, but every time I try to use it for a service that isn’t just a reverse_proxy entry, I really struggle to find resources I understand… and most of the time the “solutions” I find are outdated and don’t seem to work. The most recent example of this for me would be Baikal.
Do you have any recommendations for where I might get good examples and learn more about how do troubleshoot and improve my Caddyfile entries?
Thanks!
While I like the idea of credit unions, I opened a bank account with one for my first credit card - I was traveling overseas and it was recommended to have a card for that. I put $500 in a new savings account but the card arrived too late for my trip so I kind of let it sit and never really used the card or account. Checked back a year or two later and the account lost money due to an inactivity fee. Closed my accounts instantly. Shit like that really sticks with you and I’m still hesitant to try them again.
As another IT guy here, it could also be a shitty method of analysis that he got from ChaptGPT. As an amateur coder/script writer, the kinds of code I’ve seen people use from these bots is disturbing. One of my coworkers asked me for help after trying to cobble together something from bots. There were variables declared and never used, variables that were never assigned values but that were used in expressions… it was like it attempted to do that ransom note made from magazine letters but they couldn’t spell coherently.
he may not have expected such a strong response
I feel that’s rapidly become a neoliberal democrat feeling. Not that they’ll ever learn from it.
Not yet, but apparently the White House thinks the Panama Canal and Greenland are great excuses for war.
I’m calling it now. Musk will fund Cuomo or Adams for the
IsraelAmerica Party’s first candidate, for Mayor of NYC. The current record for election spending in NYC mayoral elections will get doubled. Media will be overwhelmed with racist, reactionary ads highlighting anything Mamdani has ever said, and some things he hasn’t said, about Israel and linking him to Hamas and other terrorist organizations. Chuck Schumer will have no choice but to change parties, for the sake ofIsraelAmerica and endorse the third party candidate.
