I’m on like 3 different ones, mainly defcon.social. All of them are under 5k users. I use a desktop app called Sengi to show feeds from all my accounts at once and group the federated feeds together, so yeah I can watch lots of posts fly by or scroll through at my leisure.
And yeah I pretty much just watch until I see a post I wanna favorite or boost. That’s why I say it’s the best way to find new accounts you wouldn’t otherwise have thought to check out.
Generally my local and home feeds are much slower. So on mobile, when I’m done catching up on those I keep refreshing the federated. I would be so bored without the federated.
“federated next to useless?” nah it’s my favorite. best way to find new people to follow
exactly. we’re just using AI to talk to their AI. they started it first.
I like Tilix
can’t stand them cause i hate vertical videos. at first they were restricted to vine, then tiktok… then they broke containment and every video service out there wanted to stuff them in their app whether people asked for them or not.
Not everything done so far has been legal and there are multiple ongoing cases suing Trump’s actions. Book bans, healthcare, and anti-trans legislation are the first that come to mind. People and organizations (e.g. ACLU) in positions of power are trying to stand up for the common person where they can. If I had more money I’d donate to them.
also you can just scrape the burnt part off with a knife
I’ve also seen people turning to Mastodon for fundraising. Kinda wish the headline would say “social media” in general instead of just insta and tiktok but the point gets across. Shit is fucked.

I have PopOS on one old HP notebook and Fedora with KDE Plasma on another. I barely use the touch screen capabilities but when I do I haven’t had any problems on either. Smooth all around, at least for my uses.
agreed on Mint. Fedora seems to be more on the new, cutting edge side while Mint is stable and reliable. Much more beginner friendly because there’s less likely to be errors or niche issues, at least in my experience.
