It started with Red Hat 6.1 in 1999 and ended up with NixOS.

I keep searching for news of others taking a stand, but it appears only those two are doing so openly.
Trump has crossed so many lines but I really do not see any outcry, mass resistance or opposition?
varnia@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.ml•Leftist presidential candidate Zandberg says Poland needs at least eight nuclear reactors10·6 months agoThis really sounds like BS: Poland has zero running nuclear power plants for power production. They run one experimental reactor, have no existing infrastructure or notable experience.
It would take around 6-15 years to build one power plant, would cost 5-20 billion € per power plant and where would fuel come from, where would waste go?

“free” as in “available”

varnia@lemm.eeto Linux@lemmy.ml•What would you change about your favorite Linux distribution?3·2 years agoYou have two options to switch to systemd-boot on Fedora:
Use inst.sdboot as kernel parameter while installing Fedora, see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/cleanup_systemd_install
Or use conversation scripts systemd-boot-conversion provided by Sebastiaan Franken
I used the script for two of my installations without any issues: systemd-boot-install-fedora-no-secureboot.sh

varnia@lemm.eeto Android@lemmy.world•LineageOS is currently installed on 1.5 million Android devicesEnglish2·2 years agoIf we could fix the issue with non working Google Wallet/Google Pay, that would be great.
But it is also worrying that there there seems to be only Apple and Google Pay in Europe - no alternative solution for wireless paying.
Other than that, Lineage OS on my 9T feels great. Battery life got almost doubled and it feels great to use a device with all current security patched installed. Next step would be to use a completely degoogled version with only FOSS software installed - just for some app there are no real alternatives available: Banking app, Fitness watch app, Carsharing app etc
Also: what’s up with the fake browsers? How difficult us it to setup a local webserver, setup a hosts entry and use a real browser to open the webpage? Or open a static webpage via file:// protocol. I find it more effort to “program” a fake browser with complete interface…
This was already reported in https://github.com/TeamPiped/lemmy-piped-link-bot/issues/10 Latest commit seems to have broken the bot.
This is how we look down on the plebeians https://youtu.be/cUbri6sSgK4?si=lhyuA0M6__A70RBU or piped link https://piped.video/cUbri6sSgK4?si=WOm-6eAdWX_yEwwe
The accusation by Bryan is out there, its detailed and looks profounded - there is no response from SUSE anywhere and this seems to follow the described pattern in the accusation of not talking about it. So as of now the public opinion is that the accusation was not withdrawn and is still standing. Not talking about it won’t make it go away for anyone.
Same here. I have not heard anything after the initial accusations. The company I am working for is using SLES as a main OS and is switching to another OS without any explanation. So I have no idea if the claims are true or the switch has anything to do with anything.
Ubuntu because of forced Snaps
SUSE because of Yast and the (german) company’s rumored? stance on antisemitism (google banned Jewish holidays)
Fedora for it’s update mechanism with the forced reboot
Arch as the necessary evil
Good thing I moved all my repos from git[lab|hub] to Codeberg recently.
