In Seattle it was closer to 3.3%, which is kind of insane.

This take is so boring. There are protests and even direct action all across the States. We’re just getting started. You need to change your media sources if you’re not hearing about what’s going on.

Which also benefits from organizing.

Protests are for building public solidarity. You know, organizing… the only way for the masses to accomplish anything in the face of fascism. It’s not for convincing Trump of anything.

The damage Trump and Musk can do is directly proportional to how fast they can speedrun fascism before they lose the House and maybe the Senate in the midterms. So the main lever that our elected Democratic reprentatives actually have is slowing down that effort in any way they can. That means filibustering, delaying votes, interrupting, shaking canes, getting escorted out, etc etc. Generally throwing sand in the gears of the administration. It’s not just performative, although that’s part of it. It’s to slow-roll the fascism so we have a better chance to fight it.

If you have any spare time, even half an hour here or there, go to protests. Connect with like-minded folks.

Do you need me to hand-hold you all the way to a protest? Okay, here’s how it works:

1. Find a local protest organization in your area. If you have trouble doing that, check out https://indivisible.org/ which lists events from local groups around the country.
2. Find an event that sounds like something you might want to attend.
3. Make a sign. Go to the event. Protest.

Don’t like that idea? Fine. Then find a way to resist that better suits you. But whining on the internet that “there’s nothing that can be done, we are fucked” doesn’t accomplish anything. Part of the goal of this administration is to create an air of inevitability around their gathering power so that people obey in advance. It makes it a whole lot easier for them to be fascists if they don’t have to fight for every scrap of fascism along the way. Don’t let them do that. Don’t obey in advance.

If you think that list of ways to resist are “nothing,” then there’s nothing more I can tell you. Good luck with your sitting around and waiting for violent revolution.

And I never said I was a pacifist. I said it takes multiple types of resistance to effectively counter fascism.
