I’m pretty far left of Harris ideologically and never really liked her or thought she was worthy of these powerful offices. I also never really expected that much from her. That being said, I was passionate about dropping Biden and supporting her campaign even at that late hour, given the immense implications of electing trump for a second term. I donated money, and rallied friends and family to get on board. Then she did that DNC speech and talked about the ‘strongest military’ yadda yadda yadda. All of that energy and enthusiasm instantly evaporated. Nothing she or her campaign did after that motivated any active support from me and I had to really fight off the urge to not vote for her. I’m entirely done with the Democratic Party as run by the current regime. Unless that party reforms, the US is absolute toast.
I hope that some day Elon comes to realize that he is utterly alone. No one, and I mean no one likes him. Everyone in his life that is friendly or supportive to his face, is putting on a show trying to get money from him or through their association with him. The assortment of adoring losers that identify with him, are merely chasing a mirage. They don’t adore him, only the fictional character that he’s constructed for PR purposes. He has to buy friends. He has to buy sex and offspring. He even has to buy the illusion of trivial accomplishments like progress in video games. He is peak loser, everyone can see it, and only a few are willing to lie to his face in exchange for maybe getting some cash. No amount of money, or fear driven bigotry, or trolling, or descendants will ever fill the gaping hole in that fetid husk he calls a soul. If there is any justice, he will be moping, riddled with regret about all this someday whenever he gets around to dying, alone in some dusty metaphorical corner.
I think it’s entirely possible that he doesn’t personally care nor actually want federal support, and is just doing motions that signals a semblance of humanity for political purposes.
As a side note, I recently learned about what a giant piece of shit Jake Tapper is regarding his advocacy for Israel’s genocide as part of pretending to be a journalist. I don’t watch CNN, but for some reason I had the impression he was a commentator with some amount of integrity.
RFK Jr. is a tumor festering in the US government. If you encountered a character as comically evil and ugly as this thing in a tv show, you’d make fun of the terrible writing. He is beyond parody, and doesn’t deserve to be engaged intellectually. He only deserves ridicule, parody, and if needed, a level of violence commensurate with the danger he and his demented policies pose to the general public.

I’m in favor of funding research as long as the public retains some ownership of the results.
I think what I didn’t understand was that the funding is going to research and not the institution itself. I’m good with that. I just hope that these grants are structured in a way that ensures the public has some ownership of the results.
I’m 100% I favor of Harvard standing up to trump. But can anyone explain to me why any public money should be spent on this private institution at all?

We must never forget what an utter piece of shit President Biden was. A man entirely not up the challenge of his time in office. The stink of the immorality of his foreign policy is all over his cabinet, Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party leadership. We should never let them avoid the consequences for participating in this barbarity.
Slotkin is the kind of Democrat who will be literally seig heiling at the DNC convention in ten years if the party continues to pursue the policies of capitulation that she is advocating for here. Four decades of this approach by this party has enabled the rise of US fascism we are dealing with now.
Just for the record, I hate America and I think you should too.
Never forget that Elon Musk has built his fortune on many many violations of the law, including SEC violations and breaking employment laws. This ghoul firmly believes that his is of a privileged class that is permitted to do this while you are not. He is a cancer in our society and deserves nothing but ridicule and punishment for the harm he feels entitled to inflict on the rest of us.
I think the location of that parade reviewing stand will make a great place to hang him upside down for public review.
