I notice an awful lot of hate for Booker, as expected. We have been discovered over here on Lemmy and some strange apologists have appeared recently. It is best to block or ignore these ‘both sides’ dumbos. No one thinks dems are great, even other dems. But we all should be able to agree that the prevailing party is currently exercising authoritarian tactics and we need resistance in all forms.

The act itself is meaningful and courageous and I would like to see more of this.

Lemmy is small enough that you can usually see it’s all the same jackasses arguing that. At least we have that going for us.

I’m hoping this is his redeption arc. I’ve watched politics a long time, I remember Jon Stewart roasting Booker for being a corporate tool more than a decade ago. Good on him now but he helped dig the hole he’s trying to talk his way out of.

Definitely, but Schumer pushed enough Democrats to side with the Republicans on a vote to end debate that they had the 60-vote supermajority needed to do so.

It would have bought attention and time, maybe.

With Schumer effectively sabotaging any kind of internal resistance within the party though…

    Slams Trump’s policies

While helping enable them. Democrats have always laid the foundations for Republican oppression.

Are you one of those people who think Dem politicians are a united block?

I keep asking those people why/how they could hold that opinion despite all evidence pointing to the contrary, but none ever do.

If you have the time to answer I’m genuinely interested in why you’d hold such a belief.
